Catching Fire Trailer

Hey, everyone! First off, I just wanted to thank you all for your kind, inspiring and wonderful comments on the prior post - I read and appreciate every one and am going to be replying soon. ♥

But... today I wanted to share the first trailer for Catching Fire. Thanks to the lovely Sierra, I caught that it was finally out. Hooray! I know most of you have likely seen it but, what are your thoughts!? I think it looks more epic than the first.

Take a look:
...and what's the verdict?

  1. I find it interesting that they pretty much ignore 90% of the book in that trailer -- it makes it look like the movie is all about the victory tour / Katniss fall-out, not Hunger Games Part 2: Battle of the Previous Victors.

    1. It kind of reminds me of the first movie's trailer in that way - and I admit that I kind of like how they do that. :) It has all of this epic build-up, but it leaves you a long time to imagine how things will be and what could possibly happen to the characters. I think it does a great job of pulling you in and making you anxious for more. :)

Plus, I'm not sure if the part you're talking about is quite 90%, is it? My sister is currently reading CF, and I was surprised to see how far she was into it without getting to that part. I guess I remembered it being more about that part, when there's a lot of build-up to that... But I'm not sure! Might have to re-read it. ;)

    2. Charity - that is interesting. Since I've not yet read the book, I didn't pick up on that theme however I do know the gist of what book two covers. Either way, I am looking forward to reading the book!

Amber - hope you enjoy a re-read if you get to it. Once I get past all these blog tours, I'll be anxious to FINALLY read 'Catching Fire.'

You make an excellent point about the trailers - in particular this one does look EPIC and interesting. :)

    3. I suppose they think everyone has already read the book, so they'll know what to expect from the entire film (plus, is is just a teaser -- we'll get a proper trailer later in the year), while it may hook in new, curious audiences that might not want to see THG Part 2.

You're right, the games don't start for awhile in the book. But they are the MAIN meat of the book, so it does surprise me there's not even a mention of them in the trailer.

The trailers for this franchise are always good, even if the story isn't really my cup of tea.

    4. Oh, I guess I just thought this was the first official trailer... Maybe another one *will* be more in-depth. :) It does at least hint at something crazy at the end there, with the ominous threat that all of the victors need to be dealt with. Hope you didn't mind me tagging onto your thoughts!

    5. It is the first official trailer, Amber! Sorry for the confusion. I think in Hollywood, this is referred to as a "teaser" trailer just because it doesn't offer the full "scope" of the movie. Hence, the name "teaser." Ah, Hollywood and their silly lingo. :)

Don't mind at all that you join in any conversation - feel free to do so anytime. :)

    6. It is a trailer, but I'm sure we'll get another -- they usually have at least two floating around in the weeks before the release, and we're still 7 months away.

No worries, feel free to butt in anytime. =)

    7. It's surprising this one is out as early as it is, Charity. Likely it's because it's a "blockbuster." It'll be interesting to see what the "full-length" trailer offers, if anything much different. :)

  2. Oooh, I saw this yesterday, and I have to say - it *is* pretty epic! I don't know if anything can really beat the original trailer for the first movie... The music, the scene sequence, etc. I mean, it intrigued me so much that I just *had* to read the books! :) But this trailer is really quite good, and I think it captures things really well. It shows how anger and rebellion is stirring, and it ends on an ominous note that hints at the next big thing to come. I'm thinking I should re-read Catching Fire soon. ;) Will you be reading it before the movie comes out?

    1. There was a lot of anticipation about this trailer, Amber and here it finally is! *throws confetti* I just caught it this morning so of course, it was something I had to share. :) (Thanks for the Twitter RT!)

I don't remember the teaser trailer for HG however I thought this one was well done. It showcases Jennifer's talent, is intriguing for the uninformed viewer, and I am sure in future - as the date gets closer - there will be a more expansive look with Gale, Peeta and even new characters.

Oh, yay! Hope you get to that re-read, Amber. Some movie adaptations do call for that. This one seems like one of those. I'd love to finally read this book and I should have plenty of time given this doesn't release until November. :)

    2. It is exciting that it's finally here! I guess I didn't realize that there was a difference between this teaser trailer and official trailers, so I was referring to the first official trailer for THG. :)

Will be curious to hear your thoughts, should you read CF! It is nice that there's plenty of time until the movie comes out. :)

    3. The only "difference" in a "teaser" and "full" trailer is the latter perhaps offers a bit more on the scope of the movie. In my estimation, those who create trailers should cut them more in the style of these teaser trailers because this one is pretty awesome! :)

Yay for time! I am so overwhelmed with review copies right now, I am drowning. LOL! Ah, well! I'll get through them in good time and should be fine. I am going to enjoy chatting about the book and movie once the release date comes. Should be such fun. :)

  3. I am so so excited about this!!! I really like the whole part where she's like "Go ahead, do it..." her acting is shining even more in this movie, I think. I'm hoping for President Snow to be all evil...because I want him to and can't help seeing him as Mr.Bennett. I really love how this trailer is focusing on the rebellion starting and how there something big coming. I really think this movie *could* be better than The Hunger Games!

    1. Yes, indeed, Sierra! I thought Jennifer's talent was wonderfully showcased in this trailer! Loving how she is playing Katniss in this trailer and that scene... yep, it was EPIC. ;)

If this trailer is an indication, I'd agree: this could be lots better than THG adaptation. Now I just need to read the book! :)

    2. Epic...yes! You haven't read it yet? *gasps* I've read it twice, I'll reread it for the movie though. I was pretty convinced to wait until the dvd came down but I'm now leaning toward maybe going :D

    3. I know, right!? I am a bit aghast that I've not read it yet either. One day... when these review books stop coming. LOL! I only read the first book when the first movie came out and haven't gotten back to the books since. I have them though so one of these days - perhaps this summer, I'll get around to reading and blogging all about my rants. :)

I wouldn't mind going but doubt anyone in my family would want to see it. We'll see.

    4. I know what you mean! This first week of April I was drowning in books due at the library and review books :/ Not that I'm not happy to read them :D I hope you get around to having time to read it!

    5. It can be far too overwhelming, Sierra but usually I continue to plod along and get through it. At some point. :) Hope you've slowed down now - sometimes even if a reader plans to review a book, it's nice to just enjoy "leisure" reading. :)

    6. Definitely! And I have, thanks :)

  4. I watched this trailer and liked it, but since I have watched the Hunger games some of it didn't make since.
One of my friends, who didn't think she would like the Hunger Games, watched it and liked it, so maybe I''ll watch it someday.

    1. If you ever decide to watch The Hunger Games, Ella, let me know what you think. I am conflicted. The book wasn't my cup of tea, with too many "bothersome" elements however I did like the movie. An oddity since it's the same story.

Your new profile pic is adorable, Ella! :)

  5. Wow . . . very interesting. I have never read the books or seen the other movie, but I admit that my curiosity is piqued. The violence bothers me though.

    1. The "violent" and submissive nature of this premise is one that a viewer needs to take into consideration, Hannah. For me, the book was one that yes, made me think but wasn't for good reasons. Then, I wound up really liking the movie despite the story being the same and dealing with hand-to-hand combat in a "forced" situation all between teens.

Should you ever decide to watch/read this saga, I'd be curious to know your thoughts.

  6. I was so excited when I got on the computer this morning and found this on my Pinterest feed! The only downer was no Finnick...I can't wait to see him.

I'm 4 chapters away from finishing Mockingjay and I have to say that this is the best series I've read since Harry Potter.

    1. Yeah, I thought it was funny not to see the "new" character's either, Ivy. However considering this is more of a "teaser" trailer, I suspect we'll get to see them as that release date comes closer. :)

Glad to know you have liked this series! :)

  7. methinks this looks splendid!

so seriously excited. it looks far darker than the first which is extremely necessary. I loved the first movie but I didn't feel that it quite lived up to the darkness and just plain epic-ness of the book. this is a book that makes people think, not gives them warm fuzzies. (although plenty of fuzzies are involved-- cave scene!)

I think it looks great. Jen is an incredible actress, the story progresses so well over the next two books, and I LOVED that they didn't show the arena. I have to disagree with Charity-- the arena is only about 40%-50% of the book and they really shouldn't show it, as it is a huge shock/surprise/twist in the book. hiding it until the movie is right in step with the plot and mood of Collin's novel.

I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the movie, Rissi.

    1. That it does, AnnaKate!

As a whole, this series is dark and well it shouldn't be. Struggled with the scope of the story in HG but am thinking that perhaps once I finish reading the series, I'll have a more favorable or at least changed opinion on the series. This teaser trailer certainly does showcase Jennifer's talents. She's a great up-and-coming Hollywood star who deserves the buzz she is generating with her performances.

Things I've read about the final book are really lackluster so it's a curiosity to find out what I'll think of it as a whole rather than an individual book. If the book doesn't focus on the arena, then the trailer represents it very well - and especially if the arena parts lead to a shocker finale.

I am looking forward to seeing the movie also, AnnaKate - and will enjoy chatting with you about it very much! :)

  8. Oh My gosh, I watched it in Physics today (admittedly while I was supposed to be doing some research, but hey we need to get our priorities sorted, right;)...and I just about cried. I am SO excited!! Come quickly, November!

    1. Yes, November does need to arrive quickly, Jovita! Cannot wait for it's arrival because this does look like a good film. :)

      Glad you thought so too.

  9. I'm a little late to comment, so forgive me.

Having read the book I am so happy and excited with the trailer!! I caught several minor details that they have appeared to keep, which makes me overjoyed. I believe I read somewhere that the new director was really going to make a point about PTSD, as that is a theme in the book. So eager to see what they do... :D

Oh, I am delighted to hear that a fan of the book thinks this looks promising. What I saw of this certainly looks "better" than the first movie so *fingers crossed* that will hold up to being accurate. :) Glad to get your impressions, Rosie.

    1. Cool - thanks for sharing where your pic is from, it's adorbs! Love it. :)

The Hunger Games definitely deserves the mixed reactions. On one hand it's "clever," on the other, it's too morally troublesome to be thought great.

  12. I think it looks better than the first movie. Admittedly, I preferred the second book to the first because the concept is much more interesting. It sort of pushes the boundaries of what the Hunger Games is. Out of the trilogy Catching Fire is my favorite.

    1. Since I haven't (yet!) read the second book, I am not judging the trailer against its book but I do think that this looks better than the first. Love how they edited the trailer and Jennifer looks like she has made Katniss perhaps more "mature" and that is something to anticipate.

Thanks for stopping by to share your impressions, Jennifer - appreciate that! :)

  13. Can. Not. Wait! :) Catching Fire is my favorite book of the three, even if it ends so abruptly. . . I can't wait to see what they do with the movie!

    1. Neither can I, Jess-Rose! My plan is to read the book first and fortunately I'll have plenty of time. :) And I NEED that.

Like you, it will be fun to see how the movie plays out - if this trailer is any indication, it looks promising.
