Top Ten Tuesday: 2014 Debut Authors

It's Tuesday again which means I'm jumping back on the Top Ten Tuesday meme train and this is the first I've participated in of the new year. The topic today is:

Top Ten 2014 Debuts I'm Excited For
I'm kind of breaking the "rules" for this topic today since news about debut authors isn't readily available this early in the year. Instead of "just debuts" as the topic calls for, you'll find a mix-up of various different authors below. Some will be debuts I'm curious about, others won't be debut authors but they're names I haven't read yet and their upcoming 2014 release has me excited which means hopefully 2014 will be the year I'll actually read one of their novels. Here are those 2014 titles.

Books on the List:

1.) Blonde Ops by Charlotte Bernardo and Natalie Zamen: The Devil Wears Prada meets Bond...? Yes, please! It looks cute and sounds like a decent plot. Cannot wait.
2. ) Until I Found You by Victoria Bylin: Victoria is a published author however this is her first novel with Bethany House. Not only does the cover convey a beautiful story, the book blurb makes this sound like a must-read. This is definitely one of my most anticipated for 2014.
3.) Friend Me by John Faubion: this concept sounds unique. It's not the same plot of prior suspense and sounds like the kind of thriller that would be a page-turner.
4.) A Woman of Fortune by Kellie Coates Gilbert: with its gorgeous cover (a contemporary dressing its model in an eye-catching gown is a beautiful "twist"), this novel captured my fancy early on. The synopsis just raises my curiosity.
5.) Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge: we've all chatted about this novel before, so...
6.) The Winners Curse by Marie Rutkoski: this one just sounds... intriguing. I've not read anything by this author however the premise and cover art is "enough" temptation.
7.) The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer Smith: I've heard good reports about this author by friends whose opinions I trust and since I'm ALWAYS on the hunt for good YA author recommendations, I'm curious to try some of Jennifer's novels.
8.) The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes: basically, I just think this cover art is adorbs. ;)
9.) Miracle of the Dry Season by Sarah Loudin Thomas: a friend recently brought this book up which led to me checking into it. It sounds interesting... and in the best sense of the word.
10.) My Faire Lady by Laura Wettersten: this one has appeared on lists also, but... come on! How cute is this cover; I just couldn't resist.

How about you, friends!
Which 2014 debuts are you anticipating?

As always, if you joined in this  meme, I'd love to read your post!

  2. Hi Rissi! I'm interested in Victoria Bylin's book, too. The synopsis sounds very interesting so I'm looking forward to it. Another debut I'm excited for is For Such a Time by Kate Breslin. It's set in World War II, which is my favorite, so I'm definitely picking hers up!

    1. Hi, Cassie! :)

Victoria's novel sounds lovely, that's one I'm eager to get me hands on. I've heard of Kate's also; I can visualize the art on the front but not the synopsis, so I'll have to look it up again. I don't mind WWII era (I'm sort of picky about my historical novels) if it's not too depressing. Hope you enjoy the book.

    1. You and me both with Victoria's, Juju! CAN. NOT. WAIT. A friend told me about Sarah's and after looking it up, I thought it too sounded lovely. Eager to check them out on their release. :)

  4. Fabulous list, Rissi! I'm curious about Victoria's, Cruel Beauty, and My Faire Lady - looks like there are a lot of fun ready to anticipate this year. :)

And I enjoyed Jennifer's The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, so I'm eager to read her latest! I mean, look at that cover!! ;) And the synopsis sounds intriguing... I was fortunate enough to find her second book, This is What Happy Looks Like, when it was a daily deal for Kindle ($1.99). It was seriously like two or three minutes before midnight, and right after I bought it, the price went back up! LOL.

Yay for a new year of reading!

    1. *HIGH FIVE*

Same here, Amber. Victoria's sounds like a great contemporary; as for Cruel Beauty, who doesn't love a good fairy-tale, and Laura's sounds adorbs. Cannot wait for these - and oh so many more. :)

...you were the one who mentioned Jennifer's writing as being good. I now own 'Probability of Love' and look forward to reading it plus you are right! This new cover design... aww, so cute. Whoa. That is the epitome of perfect timing; good for you snagging book 2 at just the right time.

I agree; yay for a new year and oh, boy! What a year it'll be. Inspys... here we come. *bites nails*

  7. Hi Rissi! This is so cool! I'm thrilled to see Until I Found You on your list. The cover really does fit the story. I just love it. And about the blurb . . . Bethany House used what I sent almost word for word. It's spot-on. Nick's a daredevil at heart and Kate's not! I had lot of fun with them.

    1. Hi, Vicki! Thank you bunches for dropping by. It was a pleasure to add Until I Found You... and I'm so pleased to know the cover fits the blurb - this means the story will be as awesome as I was hoping. :) Neat! I'm always glad to hear when author's words/ideas/titles are used; it makes all that heart and hard work more genuine for the story. Congrats!

  11. What a great list! I love your graphic too! I'm planning on doing a lot more graphics this year and having some more fun in adding more color. I've got several of those on my list too and then some I'll need to go look at on Goodreads and add from your list. My list is here.

    1. Thanks, Tressa. I have lots of fun with these graphics. It is indeed tempting to put graphics together for blog posts, and I've enjoyed it also from a learning experience since I don't do as much scrapbooking anymore but did need to learn how to use digital programs. :)

Hope you found some books that sounded good. :)
