Surprise - it's a Giveaway!

Good afternoon, all! This entry is a random "surprise" kind of blog post that I felt would be fun for two reasons. First being we've gushed about When Calls the Heart around here - a lot (and this is me saying thanks for all you awesome readers putting up with that gushing) and secondly, we haven't had a giveaway (there are LOTS more to come) for a while. This giveaway will run for a while because I'm making it a winner's choice and since one item doesn't release until later in April, I just went for a longer giveaway. This Hallmark series has spurred a first season off of a pilot film and a new book series from Janette Oke alongside her daughter, so needless to say it's been a fun thing to revisit for those of us who "grew up" on this sweet prairie fiction. For more giveaway details, read on below. Though - as always, first things first, here are the pesky rules:

This giveaway(s) is open to U.S. readers. Also, please I will just ask that anyone who leaves a comment under "anonymous," please leave the same name you enter into the widget in your comment - it's not nearly as easy to try and match comments when there is no name and in fairness to everyone else, I want to be able to be sure everyone who used the Rafflecopter correctly has a fair chance at winning against those who abuse it - believe it or not, there have been a couple people that I could not verify. So please, I don't mean to overwhelm, but just keep this in mind when entering future giveaways. I'd sure appreciate it!

To be entered in the giveaway, just enter as much or as little as you like into the Rafflecopter widget... and good luck everyone! This ends on April 25th.

You can chose from one of three When Calls the Heart DVD's:

- When Calls the Heart (pilot film)
Stars: Maggie Grace, Stephan Amell, Poppy Drayton

- When Calls the Heart, Lost and Found (first two TV episodes)
Stars: Daniel Lissing, Erin Krakow, Lori Loughlin

- When Calls the Heart, A Telling Silence (episodes three and four)
Stars: Daniel Lissing, Erin Krakow and Lori Loughlin

You can search the "When Calls the Heart" tag here if you want to learn more about this program.

Best of luck!

  2. Oooooh, this is such a sweet & generous giveaway!! You know I've been curious about the show, but I confess I still haven't watched any of it - not even the pilot... So I'd love a chance to win one of the sets. :)

I remember you saying that the pilot is very different from the rest of the series, right? Which did you enjoy more?

Thank you for the chance to win! :) Happy Friday!

    1. I've not had a giveaway in a while and I thought, "hey, we had a ton of commenting going on about When Calls the Heart, so... why not!?" It's a sweet show - and I think somewhere (maybe Twitter?), I even made comparison between this and your lovely novels as a way of sharing what else out there is similar. :)

Not sure I could pick honestly. Here are the random thoughts; I love the pilot movie because via flashbacks, it gives us the story of the book Wynn and Elizabeth (even if the ending to their story is ambiguous!). However for the story of niece (which begins in the film), Elizabeth Thatcher, I prefer the show. The actress and actor who play (niece) Elizabeth in the film and her love interest aren't as good in my opinion so I much prefer Erin and Daniel as Elizabeth and Jack in the show. That being said, if you see the film first, there is an overlap in its ending and when the show begins, which was likely done in order to explain away a movie character's presence that never appears in the show. Not sure if ANY of that made sense, but.... we'll go with it. :)

      Happy Friday right back atcha.

    2. Awwww, thanks so much for comparing it to my novels and sharing about my books in that way! You're so awesome. :)

And thank you for sharing your thoughts on the show! Hmmm.. I shall have to ponder this some more. ;) So the pilot isn't really necessary to watching the show, right?

    3. They match up pretty well which is nice! Love sharing in any small way about your books. :)

Well, I'm not sure it made ANY sense - yeah, I am realizing I tend to ramble (need to work on that!), but no, you don't need to see the pilot to get the show. The only benefit to seeing the film is getting Wynn and Elizabeth's story (which is who the novels are about) and young Elizabeth's (the niece of Wynn/Elizabeth) family background. (The movie flashbacks to the Wynn/Elizabeth story while a character reads Elizabeth's journal.) At the beginning of the show, we're left wondering where young Elizabeth's childhood friend disappeared to, which is kind of "big" since he has a major crush on her in the film.

...I know it sounds confusing on paper, but it makes sense in the film/series. ;)

I sure hope they'll release the season in a DVD set though they haven't with their Cedar Cove series which I've been trying to find so that leads me to wonder about this one...

    1. These are different than the books same as with Love Comes Softly, Abbi and I agree, aside from the first movie (which I thought was actually a good adaptation) in the Love Comes Softly series, the rest of the films were disappointing if viewed as book-to-screen adaptations. Hope you enjoy these! :)
