My Summer TBR (Leaning) Stack of Books

Happy Top Ten Tuesday! It's been a while since I participated in the fun meme, so I decided today's sounded easy and we'd go for it.

Like always, I have plenty of novels on my to-be-read tower of novels. It's kind of like Jenga; you stack them up, pull one out and hope nothing tumbles. Below are the books that are either on that towering stack or are on their way (hurry up, USPS!) and/or I'm anxiously awaiting opening my email and seeing a tour invitation.

Top Ten Books On My Summer TBR list

1.) With Every Breath by Elizabeth Camden
With my historical reads being as varying as they are, Elizabeth is the one author whose work I never skip out on. She has that "something" that hooks me each time.

2.) Seagrass Pier by Colleen Coble
A new novel by an old favorite is like revisiting old friends and that's exactly the quality I plan on finding in Colleen's latest.

3.) Destined for Doon by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon
After reading Doon, I'm curious to see what's next for these two BFFs.

4.) Truth by Told by Carol Cox
Heard fun things about Carol's novels. Looking forward to my first authored by this Bethany House writer.

5.) Drew Farthering Series by Julianna Deering
Have Death by the Book on my "must-read" and was just able to snag a copy of the final book in this summer's review program.
6.) Emma, Mr. Knightley and Chili-Slaw Dogs by Mary Jane Hathaway
Since I just read the first book in Mary Jane's fun "Austen Takes the South" series, I'm looking forward to reading this one, especially since Emma is one of my favorites.

7.) Five Glass Slippers by Rachel Heffington (+ 4 new novelists)
Cannot express how exciting it was to get this pre-order in the mail this past week.

Since I, obviously, adored the web series, there's no way I would skip this book.
Cannot wait.

9.) A Table by the Window by Hilary Manton Lodge
Curious about this novel because a.) it's a favorite genre and b.) new author! Gotta' love that promising combination.

10.) Anomaly series by Krista McGee
Been meaning to read Luminary since its 6-months past release and guess what, book three is about to hit store shelves. It's safe to say, this means it's time to read books 2 and 3.

11.) Gathering Shadows by Nancy Mehl
Don't know much of anything about this one. But it sounds good.

12.) Wish You Were Italian by Kristen Rae
I saw a cute Youtube "review" of this one, plus the premise sounds cute, which means this could be one that will find its way onto my bookshelf next B&N trip.

13.) Trust me, I'm Lying by Mary Elizabeth Summer
Much to my delight, this book arrived on my doorstep this past week!
-----
...and that's a wrap!

What about all of you. Which books are clamoring for your attention on that Summer TBR?
Are there any books you recently read and adored; young adult, inspirational? Anything?
There is a possible bookstore trip in my near future and you know how I love a good recommendation.

  1. The Secret Diary of Lizzy Bennet looks like fun, it's a nice surprise to see that they branched out to writing a book as well :)

    Happy reading! My TTT

    1. It does INDEED, Lianne. I think the web series was SO big that they almost had to dream up another way to keep it alive a bit longer. Plus, I am giddy that Lizzie and Darcy were back with some new videos. Like, awww... ;)

  2. Great list! I'm looking forward to several of these too! Especially Destined for Doon, The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet, and Revolutionary! I'm also kind of interested in The Table by the Window! Melissa Tagg's glowing review is what brought it to my attention!

    1. Most (if not all) of these promise to be epically good in their own way, Abbi. That leaves me excited - what's better than a promising Summer TBR? I'm curious about all three you mention and in fact, am thinking they'll be some of my favorites. I saw Melissa's endorsement for A Table By the Window too. It sounds good. Enjoy your summer reads! :)

  3. Cool list!

I'm so looking forward to getting a hold of "With Every Breath," because I've sadly read everything else available by Elizabeth Camden. And, when I get the money, "Five Glass Slippers" is one I'd like to get too. I still have not read the first "Doon" book, but it is on my summer TBR. Happy Reading!

    1. Hi, Grace. Thanks for visiting. :)

Same here - Elizabeth is the ONE author who's books I don't skip out on. They're just... magical in their own way. And each one gets better. Save up quick for Five Glass Slippers, I'm pretty sure it'll be worth having on the shelf plus I'm hoping it'll provide some overview inspiration for their new writing contest. :D

      ....happy summer reading! :)

  4. Awesome list! You've seen my summer TBR on my blog, so I won't rehash it here. But of these, I think I'll have to add "Murder at the Mikado" to my list (assuming I get a review copy...if I don't, I probably won't get a chance to read it until the fall) and probably The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet. I'll admit I wasn't too interested in the Lizzie Bennet book at first because I was thinking, why read something that's basically a written version of the web series? But I'm hoping there will be enough "bonus material" and character development and such to make it worth it, so I'll probably read it at some point. :)

    1. I have seen your list, Kristin, and of course, it's awesome! Loved seeing it. :)

Yes, yes, yes! You must add Murder at the Mikado to that list, and I sure hope you were able to get a copy. As for Lizzie Bennet, I totally get what you're saying. I may be like that too when I get it and page through, but... it's so pretty, it's like I *have* to have it on that keeper shelf. ;)

    1. What designers are going with covers these days is just... lovely. Next week's TTT is going to be overflowing with covers, because, well, it's a cover design topic. I almost feel a little bad for all the pics I crammed into the graphics. ;)

I will definitely be reviewing Five Glass Slippers, Ella. It's high on my priority list, so I cannot wait to get to it. :)

    1. *High Five* Glad to meet another Austen/Lizzie Bennet Diaries fan. I'm hoping the latter book is fun - and with a cute design, it really has no other choice. ;)

Thanks for the comment and follow, Jennifer! Appreciate both. :)

  10. I have so many books I want to read this summer, but I settled on a few and now I'm waiting on USPS!! The Merchant's Daughter by Melanie Dickerson, Water Walker-Episode 1 &Hacker by Ted Dekker, Revolutionary (Pre-ordered) by Krista McGee, and Saving Yesterday by Jessica Keller. I haven't read Doon yet, I read mixed reviews so I'm not too sure about that one. I'm definitely need to pick up a copy of Five Glass Slippers and I have Seagrass Pier on it's way! :)

    1. Ah, the wait is the toughest, isn't it, Alyssa?? That's often my predicament too. *sigh* Some days I wish the postal service was faster. Happy waiting.

There are indeed mixed reviews on Doon. There were things I liked/disliked about it, though overall, it left me anxious for the followup book. Enjoy Krista's (cannot wait) and Colleen's too. So far, it's lovely. :)
