Top Ten Characters + a Deserted Island

I'll confess. Today's Top Ten Tuesday wasn't as easy as I thought. First things first, no matter the company, I don't want to be stuck on a deserted island - um, no! Secondly, I had this idea that I'd be able to put this one together easier than possibly any of my other posts, alas, I had to think about (some) of these characters and even when I'm done, I'm left wondering, "why did I chose..." *sigh* Then, instead of sticking with only books, I did branch out with some movie or television characters.
This is just the life of a book addict... right?? Please, tell me I'm not alone here.
Anyway. Moving on.

Top Ten Characters I Would Want With Me On A Deserted Island
(pick based on however you want...skills they would bring, their company...or pure hotness factor :P)
Characters pictured:
Auggie Anderson (from Covert Affairs)
Auggie is awesome. Seriously, I love him, plus he's got computer skills.
Never know, that could come in handy.
the Doctor (from Doctor Who)
I. Love. This. Dude.
Plus, hello, he has the TARDIS. How convenient might that be??
Katniss Everdeen (from The Hunger Games)
Much as I take "issue" with this girl's ability to make a decision and stick with it (when it comes to matters of the heart), it cannot be denied she has skills.
She knows how to fight and survive; when it comes down to it, I'd want her on my team.
Cole McKenna (from Submerged)
Cole is awesome. I'm not sure how much I can gush about him. He's probably my favorite McKenna guy and like Katniss, he knows how to take care of himself.

Oliver McQueen (from CW's Arrow)
Yep. Is there really an explanation needed for this guy... I didn't think so.
Amy Pond (from Doctor Who)
Amy's whip smart plus she's just fun. If she were a real person, she'd be the BEST fun to hang out with, hence, I'd want her on that deserted island.
Phryne and Jack (from ITV's Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries)
Why did I throw these two on here? I've no idea except that I wouldn't mind the chance to see them in person... because, you know, they're darling together - and Jack should just KISS her already.
Beckett Rush (from There You'll Find Me)
It's been far too long since I read this novel, but I was reminded of Beckett's awesomeness when I saw Jenny's character spotlight which described him as a young Chris Hemsworth. *swoon*
Translation: he's cute.
Don't judge.
Mia Thermopolis (from The Princess Diaries)
Pretty sure I'll stick with liking movie Mia over book Mia, because well, she's cool in the film - and that's a legit reason... right?
America Singer (from The Selection)
Honestly, I have NO idea what thought I was operating under when sticking this girl on the list, but... I suppose if she were to bring her closet along with her, I wouldn't care if she came along. Even if we were on a deserted island, who wouldn't love the chance to wear one of these dresses?

It's your turn, readers!

Which characters would you pack up with you. For fun? For practicality? For any reason at all...

Do share.

  1. I watched the first episode of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries off of Netflix, and it was fun! :) I liked it.

I love movie Mia, too(though I've never read the books)!

    1. Yay! Glad you liked Miss Fisher, Tammy. The ONLY thing we don't like about the series is her tendency to have loose morals. Beyond that, it's SO fun. :)

Yay for movie Mia. I haven't read the novels, however I was just chatting with a friend about the books and she said everything was basically, not nice at all. I like the vision of these characters in the films. :)

  2. I just finished watching the last disc of season 1 of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, and oh my goodness...I'll admit that while I enjoyed the series a lot, I didn't *love* it. But those last three episodes were amazing and totally redeemed the show for me. (They were also slightly terrifying, especially the last two, so it probably wasn't a good idea to watch them right before bed. :) Now I'm just waiting for season 2 to be available on Netflix!

    1. I forgot to mention that Phryne and Jack are obviously meant for each other. :) I love the two of them together.

    2. How fun! I actually like shows that grow on me, Kristin. I just recently had that with BBC's The Musketeers. I liked it to start out, but didn't fall head over heels for it, however by the time it ended, yep, I was a fangirl. ;) I sure hope you enjoy S2... as I remember, there isn't a plot line that works through the entire series like S1, though I still loved it (aside from Phryne's ridiculous loose morals. *sigh*)

Same here! I just wish Phryne would finally WAKE UP. There is a beautiful moment in S2 involving Jack initiating the conversation/moment, only they're interrupted... as always. Bring on series three methinks. ;)

  3. Hahahahaha. I made a face when I saw America! I agree, even if you were on a desert island, at least you could be well dressed in her pretty clothes! :) I think the Doctor would be at the top of my list. So much knowledge, and I bet he'd find a way off pretty quickly. If not, he could tell me all kinds of fun stories! :D

    1. Exactly! Who cares we wouldn't have anywhere to go?? I just think having the access to clothes she does would be EPIC. ;)

The Doctor is cool, nothing wrong about that. And you're right! He'd figure something clever out - and if not, at least we'd be in good company. :D

  4. The Doctor! That is a great one to add! Awesome list!
Missie @ A Flurry of Ponderings

    1. He is pretty cool - and I bet he'd dream up some great things. :)

  5. I'm glad to hear that you had trouble with this list, because I did too! It got to be midnight last night and I still had a couple empty spots on mine, so I just threw some people in at the last minute with no particular reason. I'm still iffy on some of them, but oh well, it's done. :)

Katniss was a great choice, I should've put her on mine! And Mia...that's just so random I couldn't help but smile when I saw her on there, LOL. :)

    1. I know the feeling, Valerie. It was a tough one, though in the end, it was fun. :)

Hey, if we can't be a little random with these TTT's, what's the point, right?? ;)

Katniss doesn't always win with me (she's kind of... troublesome sometimes), however when push comes to shove, she's the best at survival.

  6. Whoa, I don't know some (many) of these characters. I'm behind on my reading/viewing!! I do know Beckett Rush though and man I loved that book...and that character. :) I think I'd want Rafe from Susan May Warren's Taming Rafe with me. He is forever and always one of my favorite characters ever...happy sigh. :)

    1. Isn't it fun to discover new characters though, Melissa?? That's part of the fun in being a book addict. :)

Yay for Beckett Rush love - that guy is awesome and one of these days, I want to reread There You'll Find Me, I think no matter it's genre, that's a book to learn from and now I'm older I'll appreciate it more than ever.

Ahh! I still have to meet Rafe. I have that series sitting on my shelf, and it's probably the only set of books from Susan, I've yet to read. It looks delightful. :)

  7. I don't know all of these characters, but out of the ones I know, I can tell this is a great list. Beckett Rush!! I'd love to have him on an island with me. (On a side note, I really need to reread that book again. I was so so excited to hear Jenny's awesome book news!) Cole is a great choice too. My favorite McKenna guy would be great at survival and would be able to rescue anyone needing help…plus he's just so good-looking. *sigh*

Of course, Katniss would be a wonderful asset to the island with her bow and arrow and killer survival skills. And Mia, too - I love The Princess Diaries so much! I think Mia could serve as some comedy relief while everyone's stressed out and trying to survive ;)

If I were stuck on a deserted island, I think I'd want Hermoine Granger with me. She'd be the smart, logical one to think of an escape plan.

    1. That's part of the book addict fun though, right, Jillian?? Who doesn't love meeting new characters... ;)

Three cheers for Beckett love - funny you mention re-reding his story, I just said that in the comment above to Melissa also. It's a book that anyone can learn from and yes, it's one I'd love to re-read. Hopefully soon. (I am ecstatic Jenny has new books coming. I've been waiting for this for eons!) Love Cole. 'Nuff said.

Katniss knows how to survive and that's what I like about her - Mia, yes! I just think she'd be fun to know. She may not possess the same talents as Katniss, but she's a cool person.

We've got to think about strategy, right? And choosing the smart ones is the best kind of bet. :)

  8. So true about the doctor and his tardis. Who doesn't want a tardis?

    1. Right?? Who doesn't want a TARDIS... plus, I'd just like to know what it's like to hang out with The Doctor. ;)

  9. Umm... Beckett Rush... Bring it on! That is one of my favorite books ever and I love him! No judging here. I'll just join you. ;) These choices were great! Some of them cracked me up and others are so perfectly what I would choose too. I've been enjoying seeing what everyone put for this week.

    1. *high five* One of these days, that is at the tippy-top of my re-read list. It's a breath of fresh air in the YA market without being all light and happiness.

LOL, I get that! I was shaking my head over some of these too (like, why did I pick X)... but then, variety is the spice of life, right?? Or something like that. ;)

  10. How fun! Completely agree with #1, #3, and #5. (Arrow, Auggie, and Katniss?? A match made in heaven if you're trying to survive on a deserted island!!!) The only person I'd want to add is Rick Crain from Mindwar by Andrew Klavan...mainly because that's my current read and he is totally cool, heroic, and knows how to fight. :)

    1. Right?? I think so as well - all three would be awesome companions not to mention they would each bring great aspects to surviving. I haven't heard of Rick, though he does indeed sounds awesome; gotta love those kind of heroes. ;)

  11. So with you on Katniss. What a good bff to have.

    1. Yes! She'd be awesome in this kind of situation.
