Month In Review: January 2015

Hello, friends. Here we have the third "month in review" on this blog which is set to chronicle some of the blog's content and I'm also going to be talking about some of my favorites from this month or new finds. We've already waved good-bye to one full month in 2015. January stays "busy" at my house because we have most of our family get-togethers (for Christmas) post Christmas day and it's my dad's birthday. First up the new finds, then we'll discuss the blog's month and some of the content yet to come.

Favorites:

1.) A Wish Come True: Check out Hallmark Channel's premiere tonight. It's pretty cute.

2.) Honeybee Gardens: Last month, you may recall me looking for that "elusive" perfect and "classic" red lipstick shade. I think I've finally found it. I don't love its "texture" as lipsticks go, but the shade is tres chic. It's called "Desire." If you see it on-line, it looks more orange, but in person, I don't feel it tends that way at all.

3.) Jane the Virgin: Yes, I will admit. I tried this show last month (or sometime) and have been keeping up with it ever since. The plot is unconventional and there are certainly flaws in the moral content (I'm looking at you episode 10), but overall, I'm enjoying this sparkling gem. I've been meaning to write a ramble about it, but alas, that has not happened.

4.) Midi Knuckle Ring: Having seen these at fashion forward TV events, I thought they were unique and of course being a jewelry person, I kinda wanted one. Only recently have I been seeing them at my favorite stores - guess it takes longer for us to get the cool stuff *wink* - I have naturally bought a few.

5.) Sabotaged, by Dani Pettrey: It came! Love that my collection is now complete and though I probably won't read much this weekend (busy happenings!), I'm loving what I've read thus far.

(My) Blog Favorites:

1.) Agent Carter (loved gushing about this one!)
2.) Guardians of the Galaxy (definitely a memorable edition to the Marvel family)
3.) Into the Woods (happy this one can be added to my film collection in March)
4.) Cover Reveal: The Sound of Diamonds, by Rachelle Rea (CONGRATS to this talented lady)

Other Happenings:

Melissa Tagg's Blog: The fabulous Melissa Tagg invited me, and a fabulous and talented line-up of guest bloggers and/or authors to join her recent blog giveaway. She asked us to let her know which superhero was a favorite, write up a brief blurb and presto, a fun blog post was born. Also, a perk, Melissa has a giveaway going on - today's the final day, so be sure to enter if you'd like. HUGE thanks to Melissa for inviting me to join. I enjoyed being a part of the fun.

Silver Petticoat:

I went back to recapping The Flash for Silver Petticoat this month - and more excitedly, I'm recapping Downton Abbey. If you want to follow along with me on those shows, stop by to chat anytime. Also I was able to post write-ups for Scorpion (guys, I'd love to chat with you about this one...!) and wrote a Top List for the site this past Wednesday. The feature? Leading up to Valentine's Day, of course it has to be: 15 of my favorite contemporary romance novels with names like Hester Browne, Katie Ganshert, Jenny B. Jones, Nicholas Sparks + more.

What's Coming:

New Blog URL: I've been chatting with some friends about self-hosting. This "messy" URL has been driving me nuts for a while now. If you have any sound advice to offer, feel free to share it. I feel more confident about beginning the process after talking with friends who are "in the know" about this process, but all advice is welcome.

Giveaways! Yes, there will be more bookish giveaway fun to come. I've got one featuring a Rachel Hauck book coming and of course, one or two more that will follow shortly after.

    1. That's awesome, Laura! I hope you like your upcoming reads. Between review copies and INSPYs, I will have plenty of reading ahead too. :)

  2. I'm planning on switching to a new URL for my blog soon, too! I'm hoping it will be pretty simple and that everything will work out nicely. :) I've already bought my domain but I've yet to switch everything over...

    1. Ooh, this is great, Kristin! I like the idea of a URL, but haven't been brave enough to go for it. Did you just work with Blogger? I think that's what I plan to do. Looking forward to seeing the change. :)

    2. My blog will still be hosted with Blogger. I bought my domain through Go Daddy, but of course just a couple weeks after I had done that, Blogger started the option of easily buying a domain name directly through Google, I think? Anyway, the transition is still supposed to be fairly simple with Go Daddy, so we'll see! :)

    3. That's good to know. I hear GoDaddy is the best. There's an option under Blogger "settings" that says something to the affect of adding a third party URL... I was thinking somewhere on this page we could add our new URL and Blogger basically (automatically) made the switch. But again, I'm so "new" to all this, I don't know. Guess some reading is in order. :)

  3. I'm so glad you're enjoying Jane! I can't get enough of that show, and the narrator totally cracks me up! Agree on the moral content--I pretty much cringe every time Luisa shows up, and there are other issues, too. But overall, it's such fun!

    1. Yay! Glad to chat with a fellow fan. I'm pretty much "obsessed" with it too because it's so unique to most the shows I've watched. Exactly! Luisa is SO NOT the kind of storyline I like, but... otherwise, I do like it. :)
