Month in Review: August 2015

Hello, readers. These month in reviews always sneak up on me. I'll think of them sometime mid-month and let myself off from prepping the post since I have "plenty of time." But, guess what, that time goes by far too fast and instead of following logic and getting a jump start on post preparation, I'm usually putting this together last minute. This past week for the blog has been particularly slow, so while August may have started off okay, the final stretch felt not as good. Here's hoping for a better September... but until then...

Without further ado, let's get this month in review started.

...Favorites...

1.) Frozen Yogurt: Frozen yogurt isn't a new phenomenon, I know. But I got addicted to Blue Bunny's vanilla bean yogurt this month. Like, seriously, addicted. I'd never really had frozen yogurt, so this new addiction of mine is a bit inconvenient.

2.) Oreo Cookies (Limited Edition): I haven't yet opened these, but this past weekend, I walked by an Oreo display at the store and picked up two of the "limited edition" packages. Why? Because, they looked yummy! Have you tried any?

3.) Zucchini Recipes: Since we have a bunch of garden fresh zucchini (it's a lot), I've been baking a lot. Everything from zucchini cookies to muffins, and let me tell you, they are delicious! What are some of your favorite zucchini recipes (we have more to use up!).

(*I'm not too pleased that a.) I only came up with a mere three things to list as "favorites" and b.) all three involve sweet treats. Methinks, no matter how yummy the stuff is, this is not good. *grin*)

...Blog Favorites...

blog posts that, while not necessarily popular, were some of my favorite to write or put together.

1.) Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - Super glad I finally read this one. Gushing about it was quite enjoyable.

2.) The Crimson Field (2015) - This PBS period drama did barely squeak into the month's top five (meaning it was a popular click), but I cannot help it. I want to gush about this more. And so I do. A lot. It's quite lovely and was really cut short too soon, though thank goodness, its ending isn't awful.

3.) Downton Abbey Season Six Promotional Poster + Images - This one is one of the past week's most popular as well. But, come on. It's Downton Abbey goodness. Gotta' give it a secondary shout-out.

3.) The Longest Ride (2015) - I was glad to finally watch this film, and despite the griping, did enjoy it.

4.) Through Waters Deep by Sarah Sundin - A new Sarah Sundin novel that is yet again, a must read.

*Didn't read as much as last month, which is a bummer. But, here's hoping September is better.

 ...Around the Interwebs...

Silver Petticoat: Slow as my month has been over here, I had a fun and pretty productive month contributing at the fab site, Silver Petticoat. Revisiting the delightful period drama An Ideal Husband was a highlight of my Silver Petticoat month. It's such a charming film that any costume drama aficionado should see. Also a highlight was getting a chance to further gush about The Crimson Field through a Romantic Moment of the Week contribution I put together featuring not one but both of the PBS shows favorite romances.

What else was I up to on Silver Petticoat? I reviewed two YA books. The first is K.E. Ganshert's The Gifting, the second Joanne Bischof's To Get to You. Plus put together a list of 15 Hallmark Hall of Fame Films to Watch. Other reviews; Anzac Girls, Home Fires (premiering on PBS this fall), and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Finally, today we previewed some of 2015's Fall Box Office Preview, most of which are the "quieter," more character driven dramas. Or they look to be.

That's the month in review here at Dreaming Under the Same Moon. Have any thoughts, favorite finds or reads from the month? Share if you'd like. Hopefully, there's a Top Ten Tuesday coming later today, but I fear if things get done for said meme, it's be a let's-break-the-rules topic.

Happy September, readers. It's time to break out the boots (once it gets crisp and cool that is), enjoy hot chocolate (again, dependent on the cooler weather arrive - why did you come back 90s!?) and someday, our favorite fashion hats and scarves.

Hope you have an amazing month and great week.

    1. Yum! That sounds like a happening place for the summer months. And daily flavors? Way to much temptation. :)

  2. I just made some zucchini bread a few days ago! It made me excited for fall since the recipe calls for cinnamon and a bit of vanilla (both of which remind me of autumn). Unfortunately I'm not a big fan of vegetables, so I'm all for a way to disguise them into something delicious. (Though I'm sure all of the sugar cancels out the nutritional value of the zucchini, ha!)

    1. LOL, I hear ya', Kristin. I say, just own the "healthy" claim when making sweets with vegetables, but I suspect you are right: the sugar cancels that out. I've been making bread recipes into muffins (I think they are better for us) and some really yummy cookies, too. All in all, lots of fun treats. :)

  3. Sounds like you had good month.
I love blue bunny's vanilla frozen yogurt too!!! It was going to be on my monthly favorites list, but I forgot to add it.

    1. That's awesome! Yay for shared yummy frozen yogurt. I'd never seen it in the freezer section like that, so I simply *had* to try it. But then, usually, I'm heading straight for Breyer's and that's that. ;)

    2. Yeah! It makes me happy when grocery stores bring in new desserts.
I want to try the other flavors of blue bunny frozen yogurt soon.

    3. Me too! There's really too many to tempt us though, right!? :) As do I. I was eyeing those flavors the other day, but resisted. For now. ;)
