Cover Reveal │While You're Awake

Morning glories. It's been a while since I was fortunate enough to participate in a cover reveal for a friend's book. Imagine my delight when I learned I'd be able to take part in not one but two this very month. The first is for someone the blogging community largely knows, the lovely Amber Stokes. Yes, you read right. Amber is releasing a new novella and if you don't mind, I'd like to gush a bit about that. I'm so excited to have had an opportunity to read Amber's delightful novella (which, bonus, is a loose re-telling of Sleeping Beauty and is contemporary, which is reading catnip to moi) and without giving too much away, can report it's darling. A review of While You're Awake (*ahem* plus something else...) is coming later this month or possibly even this week, but until that time, I'm honored to again introduce you to the face of Amber's latest.

Before that, let's get acquainted with Amber and her novella, While You're Awake, and then... keep looking! Beauty awaits.

Author Bio

Amber Stokes works as a marketing content writer for a Christian publisher. On the side, she self-publishes inspirational fiction depicting the seasons of life and love. Her passion for books compelled her to earn a bachelor's degree in English and run her own freelance editing and publicity business for over a year. Happily, this chapter of her career takes place in the Pacific Northwest—a part of the world she's always considered home.

About the Book

Sweet New Adult Contemporary Romance Novelette

There’s no rest for the fearful.

Ava always knew the bees would come. Just when she’s settled into a place of her own, freelance editing and savoring her independence, her rental house is invaded by a swarm of honey bees. And with their arrival, her lifelong fear morphs into a full-fledged panic that steals her sleep—and her peace of mind.

Keegan knows all about fear. When he meets Ava at the coffee shop where he works, he can’t help but come to her rescue. Together with his German shepherds, Sun and Moon, he sets out to break the “curse” that hovers over Tired Girl. But is it possible to conquer nightmares and live a dream while you're awake?

This sweet novelette is a contemporary re-imagining of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale that sheds light on the worries that bind us and the love that leads to peace.

....drumroll please.....

Presenting Ava and Keagan from While You're Awake

Isn't it a beauty? From the moment I opened the not-quite-final version of this pretty (which is the look I had initially), I was charmed. This not only fits the story perfectly, it's a sweet image of a young couple slowly, beautifully falling in love. All of this and more is what makes the image presented so poignant and prone to fall under its spell so easily. From Ava's style (I sort of want her style!) and her pose (gently leaning on Keagan, speaking of a blossoming love and trust) to Keagan sweetly kissing her temple, the scene captured here is perfection. Not to mention, Keagan holding a picnic basket matches their story!

Your turn! What do YOU like about Amber's new cover? Are you excited to read another story from her?

Share your thoughts. Because, selfishly, I want to read them.

  1. This is such a beautiful book cover, Rissi! Congratulations to You for being the one to reveal and to Amber on her new publication!

Confession. I never quite believed... the whole "don't judge a book by it's cover... Blah... Blah... Blah..." Why shouldn't we? Unfortunately, that's how most everything is judged in this world! And, by my judge, this is a lovely cover that would look wonderful on any shelf! Also, it's fun to hear it's a modern take on "Beauty", a sweet, forever enduring love story!! :)

    1. It is indeed, Net! Amber's so great about rallying the blogging community to help get the word out about books - and not JUST her own. She's wonderfully supportive about everyone's work. :)

Well said, Net! We do JUDGE things by their outward appearance - and I'll happily confess to being a big cover snob. I cannot seem to help it. ;)

I hope if you ever read this one, you enjoy. It's amazing. :)

Thanks - as always, for visiting.

    2. Thank you so much, Net! I confess I totally judge books by their covers, too. I love having cover candy for my shelves, real and virtual! ;) I'm glad While You're Awake passes the cover test! (I have an awesome designer. ♥)

P.S. Rissi, my ears are burning! Thank you for the sweet words!

  2. This is a really pretty book cover! Like you, I love Ava's style, and Keagan really reminds me of Gilbert Blythe, which is a definite plus! :) They look so happy and sweet. This sounds like it's going to be a great book!

    1. I agree 100%, Miranda. Ava's style is amazing; Keagan is quite the gentleman (I do heart him!), which is a plus in any story.

Well said; this pair looks happy and sweet, which is what the story is all about. Happy reading. :)

    2. Yay for Gilbert Blythe! I'm sure Keegan wouldn't mind the comparison. ;)

Thank you for the kind words, Miranda!

  3. Aww, Rissi! ♥

Your introduction is so sweet! (Even the very first words - "morning glories" - are so perfect! You know me well, friend. :))

I truly appreciate your willingness to gush and your lovely analysis of Ava & Keegan's cover. Your encouragement always lifts my spirits! And you describe the tenderness of the cover scene and how it represents the characters so well!

    Thank you again! ((Hugs))

    1. As always, it's my pleasure, Amber. I so enjoy spreading the word on awesome books I discover, most often thanks to authors like you generously entrusting me to read and review them. Thank you.

I did plan on gushing over this some more tomorrow thanks to a review, but it didn't happen. Instead I have something else ready to go up and will review your new lovely later this month! Cannot wait.

      *Hugs*
