Always Watching by Lynette Eason | Book Review

Putting herself between another human being and a speeding bullet is Olivia Edwards’ job. This is exactly what she steps up to do when the life of popular radio host, Wade Savage, is threatened. As former law enforcement, Oliva knows how to investigate criminals even now as an owner of a private security firm. These skills serve her well when she has to step in on Wade’s case following the brutal beating of one of her operatives. What Olivia doesn’t expect is to fall for her protecee… or the lengths to which Wade’s stalker will go.

Anytime a reader picks up a novel with Lynette Eason’s name emblazoned across its cover, they’re sure to find a thriller of a ride. This hot-off-the-press first release of 2016 from this talented author doesn’t stray from the familiar adage. Not only is the slick and eye-catching cover breaking rules of the norm cover art for inspirational suspense, this story features some great characters and some unique elements. The page-turning chills and thrills arrive in rapid succession as each new layer peels back another possibility of who to point the finger at, and the responsible guilty party might be.

BOOK REVIEW | Without Warning by Lynette Eason – The Best Kind of Mystery Fiction That Stands Out!

With each new novel, Eason continues to get better. Always Watching is among her best. As a reader who hasn’t read much about private security or any kind of protection work in the private sector, this story is a unique approach to the genre. Difficult as it can be to inspire new concepts in this genre when the customary is kidnappings to create final page conflict, I respect how the climax works out its wrinkles within these pages. Also worth high praise is the characterization. I enjoy everyone in this novel including the far-reaching supporting cast of characters that are, optimistically, either going to play a primary hero role in later books and at least will continue to work their way through latter novels.

Fans of TV shows like NCIS or Criminal Minds are missing out if they skip over Always Watching. Honing her skill, Eason continue to write to page superior character’s, and she breaks barriers. Anytime I have to put this book aside, I was loathe to do so. The number of characters who pop up only to be pinned with the potential stalker badge is impressive. The many women create a wide suspect pool and keep the reader on their toes. An aperture that leads us to play a guessing game that might not end as one might suspect.

  1. Such a great review, Rissi! I was already interested in this book but now I want to get it ASAP! I always enjoy Eason's writing and this one sounds especially interesting and different from the norm. Plus that cover!!! "Slick and eye-catching" was the perfect way to describe it. :)

    1. It's SO good, Bekah. But then I'm not at all surprised given it's Lynette Eason. :)

This cover definitely has that eye-catching appeal that's, well, appealing. I love the clean lines and stark white background and of course, the fierce heroine is great. It's actually even more gorgeous in person.

If you read this one, I'll anticipate reading your review. :)

  2. I didn't read your review because I'm reading and reviewing this soon, but I had to stop by to say that I am so happy you loved this one. Makes my anticipation to read this even higher!

    1. HOW DID I MISS this comment!? My apologies, Tressa. So glad you were anticipating this one. Hope it lived up to that excitement of yours. :)
