Bookstagram | #WishfulWonder October Bookstagram Challenge

You are cordially invited to join the #WishfulWonder October Bookstagram challenge.

In the past two-three months I’ve developed something of a problem. I’ve become a tiny bit addicted to joining bookstagram challenges. Though I’ve missed days here and there, the creativity of the challenges sends my mind into  creative overdrive which is why I’m constantly having “photoshoots.” With my books as subjects.

(Yep, I’m strange. This I know, but am afraid there’s no cure for it.)

Because of all this fun, I decided it’d be entertaining to put together a bookstagram challenge of my own. After asking you on Twitter for input and the types of challenges you liked best, one of my blogging buddies, Tressa of Wishful Endings (go check out my awesome bookstagram partner’s website) offered to partner with me for this challenge. Naturally I was thrilled to have her assistance so a few days, Tweets and emails later we were all set to get this party started. Good news is, we’ve already set plans in motion for challenges as far out as January – because we’re crazy (bloggers) like that, so make sure to keep us in mind when you chose new challenges.

For those of you who don’t know what a bookstagram challenge is, it’s super simple – and fun.

Bookstagram is a hashtag term reserved for Instagram (books + Instagram = #Bookstagram). It’s a fun community full of creative, enthusiastic people and best of all, fellow book nerds. If you aren’t on Instagram but use Twitter, we’d be delighted to have you join. There are very few rules, but those will be listed down below. With all that said, here is our October bookstagram challenge.

Here is a rundown of the challenges that aren’t self-explanatory:

+October 5th: Watercolor | The novel The Problem with Forever inspired this prompt, so think anything colorful and perfectly imperfect.
+ October 6th: Mad Hatter Day | Did you know there was such a day? I didn’t. Here, use your imagination. I’ll probably feature an Alice in Wonderland re-telling, but if you’d rather, go for a book that’s “mad.”
+ October 15th: Sweetest Day | Feature the sweetest romance on your shelf or the sweetest couple.
+ October 17th: National Boss’ Day | This one might be a little strange for a challenge, but when I was seeking ideas, some of October’s holidays came up, along with this one. When I saw it, I immediately thought of characters like Andi and Miranda (The Devil Wears Prada) or Kara and Cat (Supergirl), so if you need inspiration, start there.
+ October 18th: Book + Costume | Show us your favorite cosplay inspired by a book or a book with an awesome costume on the cover. The choice is yours.
+ October 19th: #BookMail | Since Tuesday is “new release” day, we want to see the book mail you’ve gotten in October.
+ October 22nd: The Elizabeth and Darcy Effect | Pick a novel that features a couple who started out as Lizzie and Darcy did (on the wrong foot).
+ October 26th: Book + Favorite Blue Jeans | To give you an idea where this prompt came from, it was inspired by my copy of The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants which I recently rediscovered in my piles of books.
+ October 28th: #BookBesties | This hashtag is something my Twitter friends and I randomly started tagging our tweets, so give a shoutout to your best #BookBesties or share a novel with best friends who are also respecters of books.

If you have any further questions, please let us know. We’d be glad to answer them. I'll be posting about this on Instagram, and possibly Booktube as well, plus we’ll be posting reminders again at the end of next week. Above all, we hope you join us and have fun with it.

All we ask is that you tag ALL of your posts (whether you join through Instagram or Twitter) with the hashtag #WishfulWonder. This will ensure Tressa and I see your bookish pictures; we’re excited to see how you interpret the prompts and what you come up with.
