Month in Review | September 2017 + #Booktube Talk

The ninth month of 2017 is “in the books” as they’d say. (Though who “they” is, I haven’t a clue.) Either way, we can check it off the list. Wipe it from the slate, as it’s gone and over with. Ciao, September. Bonjour, October!

Another month’s end means another “month in review” here on Finding Wonderland.

Here we go. (PS: there's a book giveaway running now - October 6!)

»Favorites from September 2017«

1. Blog Updates | Mentioning (one last time) that I uploaded a new theme in the last two months. Because I’m interested in creating as good a reader experience as I can, I want your feedback. I like this one, but golly, I had trouble getting it to adapt to my preferences. This is why (if you may have noticed) there were so many “crazy” days in which this space was having the equivalent of a bad hair day. If the theme is giving you any fits or it’s not working when you visit, please let me know here or on my Dear Readers post. I can always swap out to the oldie theme.

2. Facebook Pages | On that same wave length, Finding Wonderland and Baubles, Beads and Stuff both picked up Facebook pages. Not sure it’s something I’ll keep active or if I even like (FB and I don't have a happy relationship), need or want Facebook pages for these outlets. But for now, they’re there.

3. Dancing with the Stars | It's back! So excited my one and only reality TV obsession is back. Naturally, I'm rooting for Mark and Lindsey. You?

4. Indian Summer | After a beautiful stretch of autumn weather to start the month – seriously, you could smell this new season turning in the air, summer returned. With a vengeance. We’re talking the works – humidity + heat (90°), heat that may have been worse than the summer months which wasn’t bad. Though why I’m mentioning this under a “favorites” section, I haven’t a clue.

5. MUFFINS! | Today I ran across a new muffin recipe that I'm dying to try: Coffee Toffee Crunch Muffins. HOW YUMMY DO THESE SOUND?? I've made pumpkin and apple already this season. What are some of your favorite baked good (seasonal or otherwise) recipes??

» Bookstagram Challenge «

Tressa and I are (again) hosting another #WishfulWonder Bookstagram challenge. The fun begins today, October 1! All the details can be found in our introduction post.

 »Favorite Blog Posts«
(Blog posts that, while not necessarily the most popular, were fun to write)

1. All This Time by Melissa Tagg – The Walker Saga Concludes with Most Anticipated Story | The final novel in Melissa's series is a good one. Full of swoon-y moments and memorable characters.

2. #Booktube Talk | Finally Fall Book Tag | FUN BOOK TAGS FTW!

3. Fangirl Confessions | Previewing Fall 2017 TV | Because another of my fangirl addictions is TV shows. Yes, I know I watch WAAAY too many. Come by and tell me about YOUR most anticipated fall 2017 TV.

4. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins - Colorful Follow Up To ‘French Kiss’ | Not the same as 'Anna,' but still charming.

»Around the Interwebs«

Silver Petticoat:  Here’s a recap look at what I contributed to the amazing webzine, Silver Petticoat.

Articles and Lists | We preview Hallmark's Fall Harvest (so many cute ones to come!) by taking a look at the six originals premiering over the next few weeks, and I posted a "part 2" of memorable First Dances. Plus, I fangirl and swoon over a Romantic Moment from Wonder Woman

Film and TV Reviews | My reviews are again limited this month, though their numbers are still small. Still, I feel like the fact that I really enjoyed what I reviewed makes up for the smaller number. Those are Table 19 (quirky Anna Kendrick comedy); Pan Am (ABC's fun period drama that you missed if you blinked - loved it!).

TV Recaps | None!

As always, thanks to the editors of Silver Petticoat and my fellow contributors! Working with you all is always fun.

  1. I literally JUST finished reading Megan and Eric's novella story last weekend, and am now even more pumped to read All This Time, which I was finally able to order last week; I've waited over two years for Raegan and Bear's story, and am so gratified to know you think it's worth the wait! I was also able to pick up Irene Hannon's Dangerous Illusions before September ended.

As for DWTS, I am LOVING this season; it's a bit hard to narrow it down to just one favourite in fact, but so far I am really enjoying watching Jordan & Lindsay, Victoria & Val, Frankie & Witney, and Vanessa & Maks perform.

    God Bless,
    Eleanor Rose

    1. I haven't read Megan's novella... can you believe it?? Much as I fangirl over Melissa's books, I haven't added the novella collection to my "read" shelf. Good news is, I do own a copy, so hopefully this fall I'll correct that oversight. Hope you enjoy Raegan and Bear's story (*swoon*). There's a US giveaway for a paperback here, too. :)

I'm LOVING this season of DWTS, too, Eleanor. It's been fun to enjoy this season with stars who all seem to be having fun - none of whom are really a "weak" link this year. (But I'll talk more about the season in reply to your TV comment.)

Thanks, as always, for being a reader!

    1. I agree! So much talent - and she and Mark together (as dance partners) are magic. They're both so creative and I think she's Mark's dance-partner-match-made-in-heaven. Their season is going to be quite the journey. And I love it.

Thanks for visiting, Lauren! As always... :)

  3. Oh I love Dancing with the Stars! Who is your pick this year? I'm always for Mark he's so creative.
I need to find you on IG, and do your challenge, I'm late to the game though.
I'm addicted to Hallmark especially their mystery movies so I loved your searches this month.
Hallmark has made me interested in reading some cozy mysteries.
Great wrap up, and I love your new design, and your pictures are to die for.

    1. I'm always rooting for Mark because a. he's a fun pro and b. I often like his celebrity partners. I think he and Lindsey are a DWTS-partnership made in heaven. They're both creative and I think Mark's style goes wonderfully with Lindsey's personality. :)

Join #WishfulWonder whenever you can. You'd be welcome on any of the days you're most interested in. :)

I love Hallmark's movies - including those mysteries!! One of my mother's favorites is the 'Garage Sale' franchise. Mine would be a toss up between Hailey Dean or the 'Gourmet Detective' movies. Do you have a favorite??

Thanks so much for the kind words! :)
