Top Ten Tuesday | A Portrait of Autumn (Works of Art aka Book Covers that Capture and Frame the Essence of the Season)

With Indian summer behind us (or that’s the hope), autumn has (sort of) returned to my part of the world. Perfect timing to match up with today’s popular Top Ten Tuesday meme.

Broke and Bookish October 10: Ten Books With Fall/Autumn Covers/Themes (If the cover screams fall to you, or the books give off a feeling of being Fallish) – Broke and Bookish

This is really the ideal subject for me. I don’t as much as I used to, but once upon a time I published “Cover Candy” posts at regular intervals. These are posts where I tried to put a spotlight on beautiful cover art. Today I get another chance to do this.

I decided to stick with the whole “fall vibe” looks, though a couple on my list are more about the stories inside “feeling” like fall rather than the covers. Still, all of these are on the list for, what I think is a very good reason. Either way, all of these books are as lovely on the outside as they are inside (or those I’ve read are) albeit for different reasons.

Since today is all about the book covers, I’ve decided to curb my rambling (temporarily), and instead just let the books speak for themselves.

    1. It sure does! I love all the colors (yet another reason why I should have left these in their glorious HD-esque colors). Me too. Julianna's retro covers are even prettier in person. Same is true of 'Girl' too!!

Thanks for visiting, as always, Greg. :)

  9. I love that you included Mistress of Tall Acre since you aren't a huge historical fiction fan. I've read several of the books on your list and enjoyed them, but I think Gilt Hollow is one of my more memorable reads this year. Close to You made it on my fall cover list too.

    1. Gilt Hollow is a fantastic read for this time of year - and it looks it too!! I love that it was so different than the normal YA books I read.

'Tall Acre' is a beautiful novel. One of my favorites for sure.

As always, glad to have you stop by, Brittaney. Thanks! :)

  12. Haven't read any of these yet, but Gilt Hollow, Doon and A Shadow Bright and Burning are on my TBR! I love fall and I love reading books with either a dark and creepy vibe, or just a cozy and warm vive in fall :)

    1. YAY! Hope you enjoy them, Lindsey. 'Hollow' is different from most YA I read, which I like; Doon is a fun little series about a solid friendship; and 'Burning' was also unique (for me) though I know some complained about it feeling to familiar to other sorcerer series/books.

Me too! I think I tend to read mystery books in the fall - or maybe publishing houses publish more of those in the fall, which is why I do. :)

      Glad you visited!

    1. I agree!! I picked that one up after discovering it somewhere (probably on another blog) and then was thrilled when I saw it make the "best of" list of a book blogger friend (for 2016). So fun when you feel like an on-the-whim purchase was a good one. Now I simply need to read it. :D

Thanks so much for stopping by, Alicia.

  16. I almost picked A Shadow Bright and Burning myself, but I had SO MANY possible covers, and I couldn't include them all. But it was still another strong contender! Dear Reader also definitely gives the vibes! Especially because of the apparent, "boarding school situation" going on (I think). I don't know what that book is really about, but that's one of my bookish buzzwords! The only thing that was unfortunate was the black and white pictures. I had to look a lot more closer than details unrelated to pigment to recognize fall elements. It was interesting, though!!! LOL.

    1. A feeling/dilemma I'm all too famliar with, Sophie. I'm often reminded of books I *should* have added to my lists after the fact, especially when I visit all the amazing TTT (or any post) lists.

I've not read Dear Reader but am SUPER curious about it. Plus it's got a Gilmore Girls comparison so that makes me all the more interested.

LOL, I know! This was the ONE week I should have left the covers in their original form. *sigh* Oh, well. One lives and learns. My apologies. :)

Appreciate you visiting, as always! :)

    2. The one thing I have to make sure of every week is having my TTT post up before reading anyone else's list, because otherwise I'd immediately want to include those books as well.

If Dear Reader is compared to Gilmore Girls then that makes it even more worthy of a check out. Thanks for the tip! Have a great weekend!
