The Joy of Christmas Book Tag 2017

by

Season’s greetings, friends. Can you believe it’s time to shift gears from the tranquil beauties of autumn and start to break out the joy of the next season: Christmas. Now that Thanksgiving is over (does anyone else feel as if this is the overlooked “middle child” holiday?) and our friends and family get-togethers are over, it’s time to deck those halls. Or for me it is.

On today’s posting agenda is the start of a Christmas bookish tag trifecta. Why? Because they’re fun.

The Questions:

3: Gingerbread Houses

What book or series has wonderful world building? Hmm… this I don’t know. I don’t feel like I pay too close attention to the world building, so I don’t have a measuring stick by which I measure this element.

That said, I am currently reading Warcross, and it’s been incredible. I feel like the world is easy to understand. Author
Marie Lu has made it uncomplicated, which I feel like it a good way to judge world building; when the reader can follow the worlds, that’s a pro.

5: Christmas Sweets

What book would you love to receive for Christmas? Way too many. There is a book from Liz Johnson that hasn’t been added to my shelf, books by Elizabeth Camden, Renegades and more. But that’s for another list – like my Top Ten Tuesday letter to Santa!

6: Candles in the Window

What book gives you that warm fuzzy feeling? So many. But if you want specific Christmas-y stories, there is none better than Melissa Tagg’s ‘Enchanted Christmas’ novellas.

These are: One Enchanted Christmas; One Enchanted Eve; and the just-released One Enchanted Noel. The last one I have not yet read, but I’ve zero doubt it’s enchanting. PS; you can also get this trio of novellas in a beautiful newpaperback collection!

7: Christmas Trees & Decorations

What are some of your favorite book covers? Too many to name. Because of this, I decided to simply share a few Christmas-y
covers!

8: Christmas Joy

What are some of your favorite things about Christmas and/or some of your favorite Christmas memories? There are so many things about Christmas I love. Decorating the tree is one of them. In fact, as we speak, I haven’t yet decked its branches. The twinkle lights are on though, so that’s a plus!

All of my Christmas memories are good ones, for which I’m thankful for. Sometimes, I enjoy the “stillness” of the season, a few moments I can enjoy the quiet and be snuggled in with a book or cup of something warm, and just enjoy the glow of the twinkle lights. Whether it’s the simple joys of seeing a movie with family (or binge watching ALL the TV Christmas movies) or making waffles on Christmas Eve, we do enjoy our Christmas season. One of our current traditions is a new Christmas movie, which IS a perpetual “event” at my house, but we make sure it’s one we’ve not seen yet, so we have a new title to enjoy on Christmas eve, and we also open one gift.

THE REST OF THE JOY OF CHRISTMAS BOOOK TAG Qs:

  • 1) Anticipation: The Christmas excitement is real, what book release(s) are you most anticipating?
  • 2) Christmas Songs & Carols: What book or author can you not help but sing its praises?
  • 4) A Christmas Carol: Favorite classic or one that you want to read
  • 7) Christmas Trees & Decorations: What are some of your favorite book covers?

This tag was created by Samantha at Novels and Nonsense. The original video was posted on her channel on November 23rd, 2015.

That’s a wrap on the Joy of Christmas Book Tag 2017. Have you put together any Christmas-y tags? Perhaps even this one? Let me know down below if you’ve read any of these books or if you like any of them. I’d love to chat with you about all things bookish.

  1. What a fun tag! Both the video portion and here on the blog. I especially like the Christmas and winter type covers *cue heart eyes*. I just might have to join this tag myself!

    1. Please do, Courtney! This one is SO much fun to put together – even though, I do realize my post is rather plain. Hmmm… *Googles appropriate images* :D

  2. This is a fun tag! I may do it myself if I get a chance.

I'm right there with you on not always paying attention to world-building. So my answer for that one is going to be the tried-and-true LOTR, for sure.

    1. Always best to stay with a tried and true favorite. That's always my go-to.

YAY! Please do, Rachel. And if you do, please let me know. I'd love to come by and read your take. :)

      (Same goes for you, Courtney.)

  3. This is such a cute tag! A tag would be a great plan to do for the empty spaces on my blog hah. I love that all your memories are good ones! That is really sweet. I need to read Warcross, you're making me excited for it! And love the festive covers, too!

    1. Tags are really fun! Prior to my booktube channel, it'd be a long time since I'd really joined any, but they're an easy and fun way to ensure there's new content over there. So… now my method is to split the tag up and also post some of the Q's over here. :)

Warcorss is so good, Shannon! Let me know what you think if/when you see it. I plan to review it… soon-ish. ;)

      Thanks, as always, for visiting.
