‘Gifted’ (2017): Emotional, Complex Drama about Family starring Chris Evans

Once in a while, I run across a film that’s perfect. Or as close to cinematic perfection as it can be. Of course, I say this with the understanding that this is merely my opinion and not everyone will feel this way about the latest drama starring Chris Evans.

Gifted is not only a gem of a story, it’s also one I was excited to see from the start. (Because CAPTAIN AMERICA aka Chris Evans.) Then the trailer dropped and I simply knew: this was going to be a film I’d love. Next came a wait since it never showed at my closest box office. By the time I finally snagged the BluRay, I was still excited, but perhaps some of the anticipation had worn off. Nonetheless, in the aftermath of watching this one, that patience was rewarded.

From the first time I heard about Gifted, I was curious. Then a trailer released showing a tender drama about family, and I was a goner. If my intuitive movie judgment was working, I “knew” this would be 100% a “me film.” As months passed, unfortunately, my Cineplex never did pick this one up. Then, one day, there it sat.
