Little Letters: Edition Seven 2013

Dear 2013, true it’s only been five months since you arrived but… I think I may be ‘in like.’ There is so much frightening about the prospect of a new year; it’s one of the few things that can be both exciting and send otherwise normal people into fits of unusual behavior. Hopefully with your numerical sign ending in “13,” it will be a good year – and one that will spur me into becoming serious about certain things. I have but one request: if you could please move at a more reasonable pace, so that I might meet these goals, I’d be obliged.

Dear Amber, thank you for being so generous with that “retweet” button. *grin*

Dear Book Buddies, you ladies are all so great and special. Thanks for all the memories and fun. You know who you are. (And hooray for those couple covers! *wink*)

Dear Bookshelf, you may try to kill me (speaking only in literary terms) in all of your shiny paperbacked to-be-read glory however let’s understand each other: I am not one to be intimidated. Sometimes.

Dear Castle, W-O-W! 100 episodes in, and you are quite spectacular yet. Your 100th tribute shows no signs of slacking off – its “classic” tribute and the script were both memorable – that being said, if you mess in any way with Caskett, it may be the death of you. Thanks for brightening our television screens with such amusing antics and creative cases.

Dear Donald Bellisario, as a television creator, you are one talented writer. Your franchise is one of the best TV series on television and I am continually amazed that among reality shows, NCIS is the only drama show to crack the top ratings. Keep it up – and the new spin-off? That’s pretty awesome too.

Dear Goodreads, I ❤ you.

Dear Jon,  happy birthday, cuz! Thanks for being you. xo

Dear Jordan, it’s been too long since we saw each other …and I miss that. Now, it’s your birthday – Wishing you a spectacular day and though you aren’t likely to read this, I hope it’s a special one.

Dear Kara, glad we met up on Goodreads and subsequently all those other bookish places. Our book talk has been lots of fun. Thanks for being a part of the Simply Linked last time for this meme! All your letters were great.

Dear Kiera Cass, finally, book two in your series is here! I cannot tell you how exciting it is to again re-visit America and Maxon. These stories are my favorite kind; fairy-tale lovers unite!

Dear Len, you were mean last night. What was with you – Kellie and Derek deserved a perfect score – or at the very least a nine! A seven… really!? Get real.

Dear Liz, you’re special. Thank you for being the patient “little sis” and for being just whoyou are. Happy birthday! Bet you’re feeling 22. xo

Dear Mom, you are the best. Thanks for always being there. Happy mother’s day! xo

Dear Oscars, yes, it’s been well over a month since you aired and yet I just wanted to say this to you: clean up your act!

Dear Pinterest, unlike Twitter, you’ve not beaten me yet. One point for me.

Dear Readers, I know I’ve said this before but… you rock! Thank you for being interactive and making some of the comment sections truly epic and memorable. It’s been spectacular getting to know you all and whether or not you realize it, it’s been you who has been an inspiration and challenged me to write and share more than what this blog was started as. Thank you.

Dear Spring, really!? You had to go from a pleasant, weekend of low sixties and a mix of sunshine and clouds to mid-eighties and a burning sun!? What happened to the days when a real spring time was a pleasant 60-some degrees. Weird, hybrid Spring weather, take a hike.

Dear Twitter, I’ve did say before and I’ll say it again: you’re a bad influence! That’s all.

Wanna join the fun? If so, write your own version of this meme and stop in anytime to drop your link in the widget below. I’d love to read your posts!

    1. Hello, there, Angela! Thank *you* for being a reader – I appreciate that and am delighted any time you drop by with a comment. :)

This is a fun idea isn't it!? I like to post something "different" once in a while and this fits the bill. :)

  1. Hey Rissi!
Just happened to be on when I saw this post in my feed! I always want to get over here and thank you for the sweet comments you leave on my blog! I've been so busy lately, but anyways a late "thanks" is better than none!
    Love your blog =)

  2. I've gotten addicted to NCIS – one of the best shows ever! :) They're coming out with Season 11 sometime this year. I'm only on Season 3 but I can't to keep on watching.

    1. Oh, gosh, yes! NCIS is possibly *the* best show on television today. But then I may be biased considering it was the first "contemporary" show I ever got hooked on. Either way, it's wonderful. :)

Rachel, you've got so many great events and moments ahead! And the best part of all? The show just keeps getting stronger and better the further in you get. :)

Nice to see you stopping by, Rachel – your blogging presence is missed!

  3. Awwww! Another lovely post, my friend! (Love that it's in alphabetical order, too!) And how sweet are you to mention me?? You know you RT and favorite my tweets just as much, if not more, than I do yours, girl! You're so sweet. :) ((Hugs))

    1. These are so fun and easy to write, Amber! Unfortunately, it's been forever since I posted one but it's nice to break from the usual line-up of reviews. :)

In order not to show favoritism, one has to go alphabetical. That's the only fair way. ;) Oh… I don't know about that, girl! You are a master at RT-ing and sharing things on Twitter – know that it is appreciated tremendously. :)

      Thanks for reading!

      *hugs back*

    1. Woo-hoo! I'd love for you to do this, Hannah! If you do, leave your link and I'll be sure and drop by to read them. :)

    2. Yay! Will definitely be stopping by to read them, Hannah. :)

I'll have to try and post these a bit more often as I'd love to keep up with the idea. :)

    1. Hey, Juju! Thanks for reading. I have way too much fun with these. ;)

Twitter is a bad influence. 'Nuff said.

Goodreads is an excellent way to virtually organize books.

…and Amber is a sweetheart! I appreciate her willingness to share her thoughts and quick responses to any queries I send her way. :)

  4. I just glanced up at the calendar… looks like we'll have two friday the 13ths this year — Sept and Dec! Hehe, if only I were superstitious, the fun I could have with that…

I love 100th episodes. They're always awesome. I get a 100th episode of The Vampire Diaries next season. A few shows even make it to 200 episodes — like SG-1 and Smallville! Good times.

Wish spring would show up here — we're still freezing our butts off!

    1. No way! Haven't we already had a Friday the 13th!?

      *goes to check trusty calendar*

Cleary we have not. That would have been CREEPY. Perhaps I was remembering a "Friday the 13th" from 2012.

100th episodes ROCK. Fortunately, I have more shows than I realize that will make it or have made it to that milestone. Those are the best of times. :)

Aw! Sorry it's still freezing out your way. :/ It was near ninety one day here (last week, maybe) and we were sweating to death! Ugh! Don't like it that warm. Where are the days when Spring weather was actually pleasant?! I mean, for reals, we go from "cold" to hot in a day. *sigh*

    1. Thank you, Kellie! Appreciate it. Likely, it will go through some tweaks yet. And here's my funny story to go with this design change:

So, I thought I was playing it safe and using my "test blog" HTML template, minding my own business playing around in the design "center," tweaking some things when (surprise!), I realized voilà, the new template was actually put on the public blog for all to see. Whoops! Ah, well. It worked out. :)

    2. Hehe! Well, I didn't notice anything strange going on! But I'm the same way – I hate for people to see my works in progress! What a good idea to use a test blog! :)

    3. My fear is more that I am going to totally ruin my coding and as a result all that hard work will be ruined thus a "test blog" was born. ;)

I might cry if I was to log onto Blogger one day and see everything was all wrong!

  5. Yay! So glad to see your letters again! (And I even get a letter of my own!) I'm very happy that we met up on Goodreads too. Definitely good timing on my part to be online that night. It was meant to be! ;)

All those not intimidated by piles of books yet to read unite!!! We shall be the victors in this…."war"! Well, we'll try to be anyway. Although you bookshelves do tend to be pretty sneaky. But you shall not conquer us!

As for spring? I'm completely with you on that. We only had a week or so with lovely weather and now it's been getting up to almost 90. Excuse me Spring, but 90 degrees means summer and it's not summer yet! *wrinkling my nose at you, Spring*

I'm not on twitter and every time (which is really often I admit) that I think about joining up, especially when I see mentions on blogs about this or that I missed, I have to remind myself that I don't have enough time to keep up with everything else I'm doing right now. If I added twitter, I'd never get anything done! (But feel free to encourage me to join, cause I've been thinking about it. ;)

    1. I've missed this meme, that's for sure, Kara – and reading yours made me miss it all the more because golly, it's fun! (Forget to add your link in your name! Sorry about that. *makes note to correct*)

Yes! *high five* Let's make a pact to not let these books conquer us – some days it feels as if they might and could! ;)

Ugh! Wish the *real* Spring weather would stand up and make its presence known. I don't appreciate this "fake" spring. Summer should definitely NOT be here yet. To top that off, I don't even like hot weather.

Twitter: you have said it right, Kara! Twitter is definitely time-consuming. And I love it. What it comes down to is really each person making a choice if it's "right" for them or not. Some people have the discipline never to use it save for sharing new blog links (I have a friend who does this – she gets a "10" for that!), other's think it's a total waste of time. Then, I can see the point of view of it being a time waster. However, I've found it goes beyond that and have certainly enjoyed the conversations I've had on there. Whichever way you end up choosing, know this: be prepared to be addicted! ;)

    2. Yeah, that's pretty well what I figured. It tending to be a time waster, I mean. And I could easily see myself getting addicted. So I go back and forth. Yes, it sounds so fun to keep up with the awesome people (like you!) that are on there. Plus it would help keep up with the Sanditon stuff that's coming up. But then I think, I have enough trouble trying to keep up with all the blogs I visit as it is. And would I even get the hang of it and actually have anybody care what I said? And you know, around and around I go.

I spend way too long analyzing stuff sometimes. I was like this with blogging too. I thought about it and thought about it until finally a good friend simply said, "I think you should do it!". That pushed me over the edge and only a couple days later I started my blog! So who knows what I'll do with Twitter? (I certainly don't understand my own brain, let alone anyone else being capable of that!) ;P

    3. I hear ya, Kara. Totally understand all you are saying here. Honestly, I like Twitter. A lot. Having said that, I don't like the idea of it replacing the conversation that is inspired by blogging/email because the truth is, Twitter is very limiting. Having said that, I've enjoyed every second and had some fun interactions about music and Dancing with the Stars. And, of course, books! :) Twitter is best for short, "fun" things (you'd totally get the hang of it, girl! but as I mentioned, I'd hate for it to ever replace this sort of conversation thread because blogging/email inspires so much more than a mere 140 characters can. Usually.

You have my sympathy also about "keeping up." I know that feeling – nonetheless, whatever you decide, I'd care about what you said. :)

  6. I don't think spring even arrived where I live. One day it felt like autumn, the next it felt like summer. I wish it would make up its mind ;_;

Love your new colour scheme here, it's a lovely shade of green =D

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend Rissi! *hugs*

    1. …I could so go for some of that Autumn weather, Lianne! (Send it my way!) That is the ideal weather and sadly, like Spring (which I enjoy for its coolness), it doesn't last nearly long enough. :/

Thank you, Lianne! I appreciate that – I love this color right now. It's kind of my "go-to" shade. Just bought a new purse in this shade. :)

You too – hope you had a great weekend and a wonderful week! It's been a while since we caught up. :) *hugs back*

  7. What a fun post!

"Dear Twitter, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: quit being a bad influence! That’s all."
^ I completely agree, haha! It's so addictive!

    "Dear Goodreads, I ❤ you."
Me too! <3 I love having a place where I can organize my tbr/read pile. Although I do wish the shelves were more appealing to the eye like Shelfari.

On a site note, have you seen the CW fall line-up? Some pretty awesome sounding shows on there! *excited*

    1. Hey, Renu! Lovely to see you over here!

Twitter is addictive. I LOVE it even if it does continue to pull me back there CONSTNATLY when I should be doing other things. ;) Where would I be without it!? I miss it when I do take time off because I feel like I've "met" some lovely, great people on there whom I consider friends.

Never tried Shelfari (or anything else) so I've nothing to compare GR too. However, the principal is AWESOME! Love it.

No! I haven't seen CW's line-up. What new on it!? I am excited to try Arrow when it comes out this summer. :)

      Thanks for reading!
