A

is for apple pie because there is nothing more American than a slice of this old-fashioned classic july fourth 2013

M

is for the military because time and again I am humbled and grateful for their sacrifice – thank you to all of the proud members of the U.S. military who keep our home safe.

E

is for entertainment and fun because what is a celebration without family, good food and fireworks!?

R

is for red because, while the red, white and blue may be tattered and torn still, they fly proudly and symbolize patriotism

I

is for independence because the Founding Fathers penned a declaration that gave that to us

C

is for country because Americans can still be proud of the principles that we were founded on

A

is for anthem  because the national anthem still has the ability to send shivers of pride through me

“It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.”  – George Washington

Wishing you all a terrific Independence Day!

Whether you’re enjoying a picnic under the coolness of a shade tree, spending the day with family perhaps swimming, watching the night sky light up in a spectacular show of glittering trails, participating in a time worn, but loved tradition or taking in a movie, I hope you enjoy each new memory you make.

…thanks to everyone who has protected America’s freedom. You are our heroes.

Happy Independence Day, dear readers!

What’s on your agenda for this July Fourth 2013? Anything fun…

    1. Thank you, Rebeka! Appreciate you stopping by and sharing your greetings. It's been fun chatting with you on Twitter and discovering each others blogs. Hope you enjoy a great weekend. :)

    2. That they are, Rebeka – I'm going to enjoy your blog and will be stopping by soon to "catch up." I always get behind after taking weekends "off" from the Internet. :)

    1. Same to you, Rosie – hope you enjoyed a patriotic July 4th – and enjoyed that time with family. Those are always the best kind. :)

    1. Thanks for dropping by, Sierra – I had some fun with this. Some letter, I went "silly" since I couldn't come up with anything more serious but, hey, we sometimes need fun and silly, right!? ;)

Happy (belated) Independence Day to you and your family. I sure hope you had a nice day.

  1. That was so nice, Rissi! I Loved your A-M-E-R-I-C-A by the letter descriptions and the quote by George Washington! Very Patriotic!

I'll be celebrating today with family & watching fireworks, too! We are so blessed to be free!

Hope you have a wonderful 4th, too!

    1. Thank you for dropping by and sharing your July 4th plans, Net. Always fun to read about traditions – that was basically my day also. Always the best kind. :)

Happy (belated) Independence Day. We *are* blessed to be free – sadly, too often, it's forgotten how much.

    1. Isn't that quote totally cool and oh-so-true, Grace!? Loved it.

Thanks for reading – a very happy (albeit belated) July 4th to you as well, Grace. :)

  2. The acronym is so creative and beautiful! Today I'm going to be attending an annual get-together with friends: hamburgers and hot dogs, salads, watermelon, talk, ice cream, brownies, and sparklers.

    Happy Fourth of July!

    1. Ooo! Sounds like your day was fun, Hannah! What is the Fourth of July without good food (love watermelon) and family/friends!? It's just not complete without these things and the people in our lives. Used to be a tradition to do sparklers with dad and my "sis." We don't now but I still love those nighttime fireworks.

Happy (belated) July fourth to you as well!

  3. I agree with all the other commenters – this is an awesome post, Rissi! Love it!! :)

My grandparents and uncle, a couple of former neighbors, and a current neighbor family are all coming to our house this evening for a barbecue and fireworks – so excited! Blessed to have such wonderful people to spend this holiday with and make new memories. :) Now if only that didn't mean I have to clean the bathroom before tonight… ;)

Happy 4th of July, dear friend!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Amber – this one was fun to do. :)

Yay! Your plans sound like fun. I like holidays spent with family. Those are the best-est days. Saw a few fireworks – my family can just drive down the road a bit to see the town's display. None of us are overly fond of crowds, so that works out nicely. ;)

Unfortunately with fun gatherings comes some not-so-fun (house cleaning) jobs. Totally understand that! Hope things worked out okay.

Happy Independence Day, friend! Hope it was a great one.

      *hugs*

  4. Wow, really good post! I am not from America, but I thing America has many beautiful places and I will one day fly there to see one of your amazing cities.

    1. Hey, there, Vanessa! Glad you dropped by. :)

America does have some great landmarks and cities. Sadly, as an American, I've not ever seen many of the places I want to. But then, that's what a "someday" list is for. :)

  5. What a neat idea! I love acronyms, this one especially!

As for my fourth it was pretty much a big party with fireworks at the end! Though 2 of my favorite things are the Cotton Candy we have (yum!) and face painting, which can be very fun and festive! I had the word 'Freedom' painted on my face this year with little blue fireworks around it! Over all, it was an awesome day!!!

    1. Thanks, Evelyn – it's fun to try new things. :)

Sounds like a fun "big party," Evelyn! The things you list are traditional for July fourth activities and that's what the holiday is all about. I like how you describe your face paint design. Freedom is never something to take for granted. Glad you enjoyed a nice day – fireworks are the perfect way to cap off any July fourth. :)
