STORY: The Dream Dress follows wedding dress designer extraordinaire, Gabi Delgado. Or at least she’s a wanna-be designer. Instead she works in the shadow of a tyrannical boss that is more than a little threatened by his “material girl.” Then, in a twist of unavoidable events she becomes the designer everyone wants. Things go from bad to worse when reporter, Jordan Singer, assigned to write a piece on Demetri’s designs, takes an interest in Gabi’s work and decides to co-feature her.

The Dream Dress, by Janice Thompson | Book Review

What little girl hasn’t at some point had a dream of dressing up in a white gown and standing across from the man she loves? Probably all of us have. This all manifests that dream in Thompson’s series. That’s what I’ve like most about this series; how Janice covers each perspective. From the wedding planner and bakery; the photography and flowers; the designer to the bride, no angle isn’t in this equation! Our heroine in this is one whose past affects her present and future, especially when it comes to easily trusting men. As a result of this, Gabi allows her boss to demand the unreasonable of her.

I think this is Thompson’s most “girl power” novel to date. Its male lead gets little page time, which means that instead of being heavy on the romance (which can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on the kind of reader you are), The Dream Dress is a kind of coming-of-age story in a comedic sort of way. Fans of Janice Thompson are going to really enjoy this next-to-last installment. There’s more with Bella Neeley and her crazy gang, plus we catch up with Hannah, Scarlet and of course, get to know Gabi, the girl who we may have underestimated. Hilarity, classic movies and a dream wedding gown is just the beginning The Dream Dress is another sweetheart of a book – with Janice Thompson’s signature flair written all over it.

    1. Most series just have the three novels, Maria, so it's great to see this one get a fourth! Cannot wait to read Cassia's story – it sounds equally charming. Glad you enjoyed The Dream Dress and thanks for reading! :)

    1. Ditto, Melissa. These books are so pretty and have a snazzy sense of color – they brighten anyone's bookshelf!

Yay! Hope you enjoy the series. It's got a great sense of humor.

  1. I've read her Weddings by Bell series and really, really loved it. (I want to reread them soon.) They were hilarious! :) For whatever reason, I haven't read any of her other books yet. I see books from one of her other series (something about Hollywood?) at a local bargain bookstore all the time but have never picked them up! Thanks for reminding me that I need to read more of her novels. :)

    1. Oh, my, yes! Kristin I still have memories of reading Janice's 'Wedding by Bella' series – I laughed so hard while reading them, I think my mother figured I was nuts. ;)

Her Hollywood series is cute too – it was in-between the "Bella books" and this new series, so it also has cameos of beloved characters plus introduces us to a bunch of newbies. Happy reading with any future Janice novels – I suspect you'll get many laughs out of them. :)

    1. Hi, Janice! Thanks for dropping by! I really enjoyed Gabi's story and of course, am eager to read Cassia's too – you set it up very well. :)
