Month in Review | July 2017 + #Booktube Talk

Tuesday, August 1, 2017

Seventh month of 2017? Check it off the list. Put it “in the books.” Wipe it from the slate, as it’s gone and over with. Farewell, July. Bonjour, August!

Another month’s end means another “month in review” here on Finding Wonderland.

Here we go.
»Favorites from July 2017«

1. Blog Updates | So, I uploaded a new theme this past month, and… I like it, but golly, I had trouble getting it to adapt to my preferences. This is why (if you may have noticed) there were so many “crazy” days in which this space was having the equivalent of a bad hair day. If the theme is giving you any fits or it’s not working when you visit, please let me know here or on my Dear Readers post. I can always swap out to the oldie theme.

2. Facebook Pages | On that same wave length, Finding Wonderland and Baubles, Beads and Stuff both picked up Facebook pages this month. Not sure it’s something I’ll keep active or if I even like, need or want Facebook pages for these outlets. But for now, they’re there.

3 TV | So... as usual, I've been watching some new TV and becoming addicted to new shows. Yeah, I know. Like I need this. I'll blame Bekah for one of these new addictions since I've seen her tweet so much about the 'Chicago' TV shows (produced by Dick Wolf). I'm only watching two and fear if I watch more than that, I'll have a trilogy (or four for a short period of time) to be addicted to.

The rest is British TV. There shouldn't be an explanation needed there because who doesn't love British telly??

(Blog posts that, while not necessarily the most popular, were fun to write)

1. Bookish Tag Talk | The Mid Year Freak Out Tag, 2017 Edition | Because who doesn’t love talking ALL THE BOOKS???

2. Chesapeake Shores, Season One (2016) – Powerful Family Drama about Hope, Home and Love | This show is SO good, and is easily my favorite of Hallmark’s TV series. I recently (finally) finished the first season and reviewed it. Bring on season two. This girl is ready.

3. Jane of Austin by Hillary Manton Lodge – Sisters, Tea Shops, Texas and Romance in a ‘Sense & Sensibility’ Re-telling | Hillary’s latest contemporary does not disappoint. Another stunner. Shout-out to Courtney; thanks for the read-along.

5. Unraveling by Sara Ella – Solid Sequel Follows up YA Fantasy Debut, ‘Unblemished’ | A solid follow up to Sara’s wonderful urban fantasy, Unblemished.

Silver Petticoat:  Here’s a recap look at what I contributed to the amazing webzine, Silver Petticoat.

Articles and Lists | I try and convince you of (just a few - 6 to be precise, of) the reasons you 100% should read Jane of Austin; This month I spotlight a romantic moment from one of my favorite (aka underrated) romantic-comedies, The Other End of the Line; and then, perhaps my favorite article of the month? The one in which I fangirl over favorite books that Hallmark Channel should totally adapt into originals!

Film and TV Reviews | My review game was (very) limited this month, but I did review Hallmark's first Christmas film of the year, The Christmas Cure.

TV Recaps | No recaps.

We all had a great month at Silver Petticoat, and as always, I give a shout-out to our editors and fellow contributors. If I do say so, my fellow writer's are putting out so much amazing content. It's a pleasure to be a small part of this talented group.

That’s an end to the month here at #FindingWonderlandBlog. What was your bookish, blogging or life like this past month? Did you discover any new (and amazing) authors or reads? Thank you for visiting Finding Wonderland.

  1. YAAASS!!! I’m so excited that you’re watching the Chicago shows! Aren’t they awesome?! Let me guess, Fire and PD? Those are the best, though Med has it’s moments.

All the books you read in July are so pretty! <3

    1. You would think so, wouldn't you??? I mean with as big of a crime drama nut that I am, wouldn't those be the two I start with? But nooo. Instead I started Chicago Justice (because I really like the lead actor) and after a few episodes of that, I watched some Chicago Med. Love that it's not the soap drama I feel 'Grey's' is. But I suspect that'll change.

Oh, and I've seen Taylor Kinney in some Med episodes, which makes me all the more curious about Chicago Fire. ;)

      (Aren't they? Love pretty covers!)
