Fall 2017 TBR-ing (Or the 13 Books that Sit on My Shelf and Look All Kinds of Pretty!)

by

Autumn is in the air. Can you feel it? We sure do in my corner of the world. (Edit: or we did when I wrote this. Summer has now made a return… ?) It’s all about the crisp, smoke infused air of the season. PSL is back, my boots are at the ready and the colors of the year are about to change. In celebration, we’re primed and ready to talk Fall 2017 TBRs!

Ah, the seasonal TBRs. They’re bothersome creatures, aren’t they? Don’t get me wrong, I love to make a TBR list. It’s always fun to put the books together and take the bookstagram monthly TBR photo (because BOOKS! Pretty covers! Pretty photo ops!), but it’s not so fun to look back and realize there’s an #EpicFail feeling attached when
you don’t read those books. Or this is certainly the mindset that applies to moi.

Despite this, I wasn’t not going to join today’s meme and make a fall TBR list. Most of all because I love putting together these prompts with Top Ten Tuesday. Here’s my Fall 2017 TBR (aka the List I’ll Probably Not Read but Really Want to Read)

FALL 2017 TBR

1. Deadly Proof by Rachel Dylan | This is actually my #AmReading current (or one of them). I’m not far into it yet (page wise), but I did sneak in a little reading Sunday morning (as if to spite the fact I wouldn’t today) and it’s shaping up to be a first-class read. In fact, this one may even end up on my fall recommendations video – provided I get it filmed this week. Goodreads

2. Olivia Twist by Lorie Langdon | This one may not release until March of 2018, but thanks to the publisher, I was kindly sent a copy. Needless to say, this twist on Dickens classic Oliver Twist sounds like a wonderful and atmospheric novel to read for fall. Goodreads

3. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalo | When a title references Jack the Ripper, is there a better book to read during the autumn season!? Goodreads

4. When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon | In consideration of all the buzz,
this one has caught my attention many times over. Plus I do love my contemporary
reads. Goodreads

5. Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins | Since I finally read Lola and the Boy Next Door post Anna and the French Kiss (circa summer 2016… maybe??), adding their companion novel, ‘Isla’ is something I’d really (really!) like to accomplish. I didn’t like ‘Lola’ quite as well as its predecessor, but nonetheless, I’m ready to read book three. Goodreads

6. Blind Spot by Dani Pettrey | Can you believe we’re this close to Dani’s third and final Chesapeake Valor novel? Wow, this series went by fast. Despite this, I loved that two of the books released in one year – less wait time makes me a happy reader. Goodreads

7. Lady Jayne Disappears by Joanna Davidson Politano | A debut novel I’m very
much invested in reading. Aside from its beautiful cover (*cover snob alert*),
this book has an insanely interesting premise. Goodreads

8. The Austen Escape by Katherine Reay | I almost forgot to add this one, which is
100% unacceptable. This is one of my most anticipated 2017 reads let alone a
seasonal TBR must! Goodreads

9. All This Time by Melissa Tagg | In the interest of full disclosure, let me say this: I’ve already read this book. OHMYSTARS! So sweet. Lots of signature “Tagg-isms.” Make sure you pick up a copy September 28th! It’s a beauty. Goodreads

10. The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbrook by Bethany Turner | Everything I hear about this book is all about the rave reviews. Oh, and it sounds like it has sass, which is always a pro. Goodreads

11. Hometown Girl by Courtney Walsh | Cute cover aside, this one is high on my must list because I know it’s going to be a wonderful story. Plus today is Hometown Girl‘s birthday. *confetti toss* Goodreads

12. Rescue Me (+ A Matter of Trust) by Susan May Warren | With the fourth book in this series (and the one I’m most excited for!) just around the corner, the fact that I’ve not yet read Rescue Me (book two) OR A Matter of Trust (book three) hasn’t escaped me. Goodreads

13. By Your Side by Kasie West | Because this is one of the two novels by Kasie I’ve not read, I’d really like to make this one a priority over the next couple of months. Time will
tell if this is a bookish wish that comes true. Goodreads

    1. It is, Lianne! Even if I don't get these books read this season, I'm anticipating them for an eventual TBR. Either way, they all have great promise.

You'll have to catch up with Katherine's backlist someday. They've all been such wonderful stories. :)

      Thanks, as always, for visiting!

    1. Doesn't it? I'm so excited for Hometown Girl and of course, Olivia Twist, too. (And I know what you mean about 'Hometown.' It kind of snuck up on my too.) Thanks for visiting, Amanda. :)

    1. I'm noticing a lot I forgot this add to this list, Anne (as I visit everyone else's amazing lists). *sigh* That's just normal for us bookworms, right??! :)

      Thanks for visiting!

  1. I totally need to read When Dimple Met Rishi! I've heard such good things about it. :-) I hope you don't have an epic fail with this list!

    1. I've forgotten an entire list, Ashley. It's not been pretty to be reminded of the many other novels I would like to read. But, well, they'll be there next season too. :D

Good to know the audio of 'Jack' is A+. I listened to my first audio book earlier this year, and really enjoyed it.

Same to you! Happy fall TBR-ing – and thanks for visiting! :)

    1. Same, Greg. I've seen lots of grand reviews for 'Jack' and 'Dimple' seems to be getting wonderful reviews too!

…and I know the feeling. I'm spying WAY too many books I didn't put on this list that I'd like to read too. And so the TBR grows.

      Thanks, as always, for visiting!

    1. I'm so happy to know this, Alyce! Thanks for sharing. And I hear amazing things about Sandhya's novel, and of course, already, I'm curious for her companion novel. (Because that's normal, right?? :D)

      Thanks for visiting!

    1. *high five* Selfishly, I'm REALLY glad not to be along in this, Carmen. I can be a mood reader, but sometimes I "have" to read a certain book because it was sent to be, etc. When that happens, ordinarily I still end up really enjoying the book. :)

Thanks! Me too. And thanks for stopping by. Glad to chat with you.

    1. Mine too, Lauren! Which is what most of these books are – books I hope to get too. Thanks! I hope I'll enjoy this 'Jack' duo and of course, am thrilled to know 'Isla' and 'Rishi' are grand reads. :)

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. 'Isla'! I read that one last year, maybe? Quite a bit after publication and well after reading the first two but I do love that companion series! And the cameos make me smile. I hope you like it too! I really want to check out Stalking Jack the Ripper as well, for the same reasons you mentioned. :)

    1. I'm glad 'Isla' is good, Sara. I *just* finished Lola's story, so I'm hoping not to let as much time elapse between Lola's and Isla's as did for Anna and Lola.

Hope we both enjoy 'Jack.' It seems like a great read for this time of year, so I'm hoping to read it in the coming months.

Happy reading – and thanks for visiting. :)

  3. You have so many amazing books to read! When Dimple Met Rishi is on my list too! It sounds so cute! I recently bought Stalking Jack the Ripper and with the sequel having just released, I hope to get to that one soon too. Kasie West books are so adorable, I haven't read her latest but By Your Side is so cute! I haven't heard of Olivia Twist but I love Oliver Twist so I will definitely check out the retelling. Happy reading!

    Here's my Top Ten Tuesday!

    1. I had 'Jack' preordered from Amazon since it recently released to paperback. Hopefully, it'll be a memorable read – and is one I'd ideally enjoy reading in the coming months as the timing seems good. :)

Kasie's books are indeed adorable. Love 'em all (or those I've read).

YAY! Hope you too enjoy Olivia Twist.

Thanks so much for visiting, Jeanna – and same to you. Happy fall TBR-ing! :)

    1. A felling that's familiar to me, Michelle – having so many fall releases to be exited about and/or series to start/finish. In fact, I've just been seeing ALL THE BOOKS releasing in the next months and am wondering how I'll read them all! :)

      Thanks for visiting!

  4. I can't believe I forgot to add Olivia Twist and The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck to my list! #majorfail. Otherwise, my list looks a lot like yours. By Your Side is one of the few Kasie West titles I have yet to read also.

    1. I've forgotten to add some to mine as well, Brittaney. *sigh* It always makes me sad when I do this. But… ah, well. The more important thing is that we don't forget to READ them! :)

Hope we both enjoy By Your Side. Happy fall TBR-ing! Thanks, as always for stopping by. Always glad to chat with you. :)

  5. Books 6 through 11 are on my TBR, too!!!!! Now, just to find more reading time in my crazy life. The fall season just makes me want to read ALL THE TIME. Life gets in the way. ;) Happy reading, Rissi! (And I'm looking forward to reading Melissa's very soon. Amazon is being nice and it's available!!! I look forward to the gushing convos I *know* we will have about it).

    1. YAY! Hooray for shared favorites/anticipated books, Courtney. I know the feeling re: finding reading time. This is my second week of REALLY slow reading (mainly because I haven't gotten in much reading time). But here's hoping we both enjoy more this week.

YAY!!! Amazon is awesome, aren't they?? (Snagged a copy for myself as well.) I look forward to our conversations about All This Time as well. I know we'll have many – and same to you. Happy fall TBR-ing.

      So glad you stopped by.

  6. I hardly ever make set TBRs for the seasons because I'm so bad at following through with them, but they are always just so fun! Your list sounds great! I really hope you get to read Stalking the Ripper – it's so much fun! I'd never seen Lady Jayne Disappears before, but it looks so good and I'm definitely going to be adding it to my own list of books to get through. Great list! :)

    1. I'm terrible at TBR follow through as well, Jordan. That said, yes, they're simply fun to make and if you're anything like me, *pretend* to follow up on. ;)

I love all the love 'Jack the Ripper' seems to get. Makes me happy especially since I don't read a lot of books in this genre. Since I do want to give some a try, and this does sound like a neat, atmospheric read, I'm curious.

'Lady Jayne' sounds amazing! Hope you enjoy it. :)

Thanks, as always, for making Finding Wonderland a TTT stop.

  7. I really enjoyed By Your Side by Kasie West. Probably one of my favorites by her. I was just looking at her newest book coming out this December. So tempted to preorder now. I'm also looking to finally read When Dimple Met Rishi. Stalking Jack the Ripper is so great. I can't wait to read the sequel.

    1. I'm pretty sure I've already preordered Kasie's book, Alicia. Her novels make me smile and so it's worth the preorder – plus I'm so excited this one has been moved up to December. If nothing else I can claim it's a Christmas gift for myself. ;)

YAY for 'Dimple' and I love that 'Jack the Ripper' gets so many good thoughts! Thanks for sharing. :)

…and for visiting! Always glad to chat with you, Alicia.

    1. Is it bad to admit I picked up the sequel the other day without having reading the first book?? ;) #BookwormProblems

      Thanks for visiting, Lauren!

  8. Lovely list, Rissi!
Though Stalking Jack The Ripper wasn't included on my Top Ten, I still really hope to read it this fall – it does seem like the perfect autumn read!
I loved When Dimple Met Rishi so I hope you'll enjoy it as well! And of course, one can never go wrong with a cute Kasie West or Stephanie Perkins story :)

    1. Thanks, Lindsey – glad to have you visit! These TBR lists are always fun to put together.

I agree. 'Jack the Ripper' seems the ideal autumn read, which is why I do hope that's one I read during the next two months – hope we both enjoy.

Ditto. Who can resist a Kasie West or Stephanie Perkins story!? I really should have added Perkins new book too, because I AM curious about it. You? :)

  9. I definitely need to read Stalking Jack the Ripper and When Dimple Met Rishi! I have had them both for wayyy too long without reading them- and they both sound awesome! Oh, and no, I am the WORST at sticking to a TBR, I never know what I'll end up reading. Hope you enjoy all of these!

    1. YAY! Glad I'm not the ONLY one who hasn't read these, Shannon. :)

(Here's hoping we both like these hyped stories.)

ME TOO. But… it's still fun to make the list. Mostly it's just so I can go back and look at my EPIC FAIL. ;)

      Thanks for visiting!

  10. OMG, you changed your blog design! (please tell me I'm not wrong.) It looks FABULOUS and I love it so much! Good job with it! Green looks perfect.
I read When Dimple Met Rishi and really loved it. I also read By Your Side by Kasie West, which was also super cute and enjoyable, but it still didn't top her other books for me, P.S. I Like You, On The Fence, and The Distance Between Us, my top 3.
I'm eagerly anticipating knowing about what you thing of Stalking Jack the Ripper. It was not the greatest book to me, but it had many redeemable qualities that improved my rating of it. I truly hope you have a better time with it than I did.

    1. (My apologies for the late reply, Sophie.) You are not wrong… I did change the look. Had to give the blog a little autumn makeover. :) Thanks for the kind words.

Haven't read 'P.S.,' but I did love Kasie's 'Distance.' Made me think of Gilmore Girls. Glad to hear more great praise for 'Dimple,' too!

Thanks! Me too. It's never fun when a book disappoints.

Appreciate you stopping by, as always, Sophie. :)
