Waiting on Wednesday | Fourteenth Edition

Hello, readers and followers! Happy Wednesday. Welcome. It's another Wednesday, which means there's another fun meme making the blogging rounds. Today's feature is all about the books we're "Waiting On" with Can't Wait Wednesday. A meme Finding Wonderland occasionally takes part in.

Organized by the lovely Tressa of Wishful Endings, here's another edition of Can't Wait Wednesday.

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted here to spotlight and talk about the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they're books that have yet to be released as well. It's based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine. (Find out more here.)

Today, upcoming YA lit novels are in the spotlight. Yes, I purposefully mention novels (plural) because I'm featuring two books today. Partially because I couldn't choose (we all encounter this dilemma, right?), but also because it's been a while since last I took part in this Wednesday bookworm approved meme.

STAY SWEET
Author: Siobhan Vivian  | Publisher: Simon and Schuster
Genre: Fiction; Contemporary Fiction, YA Fiction
Publication Date: April 24 2018

A summer read about first love, feminism, and ice cream.

Summer in Sand Lake isn’t complete without a trip to Meade Creamery—the local ice cream stand founded in 1944 by Molly Meade who started making ice cream to cheer up her lovesick girlfriends while all the boys were away at war. Since then, the stand has been owned and managed exclusively by local girls, who inevitably become the best of friends. Seventeen-year-old Amelia and her best friend Cate have worked at the stand every summer for the past three years, and Amelia is “Head Girl” at the stand this summer. When Molly passes away before Amelia even has her first day in charge, Amelia isn’t sure that the stand can go on. That is, until Molly’s grandnephew Grady arrives and asks Amelia to stay on to help continue the business…but Grady’s got some changes in mind… - Goodreads

ALWAYS NEVER YOURS
Author: Emily WibberleyAustin Siegemund-Broka  | Publisher: Speak (Penguin Books)
Genre: Fiction; Contemporary Fiction, YA Fiction
Publication Date: May 2018
Megan Harper is the girl before. All her exes find their one true love right after dating her. It’s not a curse or anything, it’s just the way things are, and Megan refuses to waste time feeling sorry for herself. Instead, she focuses on pursuing her next fling, directing theatre, and fulfilling her dream school’s acting requirement in the smallest role possible.

But her plans quickly crumble when she’s cast as none other than Juliet–yes, that Juliet–in her high school’s production. It’s a nightmare. No–a disaster. Megan’s not an actress and she’s certainly not a Juliet. Then she meets Owen Okita, an aspiring playwright who agrees to help Megan catch the eye of a sexy stagehand in exchange for help writing his new script.

Between rehearsals and contending with her divided family, Megan begins to notice Owen–thoughtful, unconventional, and utterly unlike her exes, and wonders: shouldn’t a girl get to play the lead in her own love story? - Goodreads

  1. I'm also highly anticipating Stay Sweet! It sounds really cute but also really empowering for us females so that's definitely an added plus. I read Always Never Yours last month and really loved it so i'm sure you will as well! The romance was super cute and Megan was such a strong female lead!

  8. I love to read lighthearted romantic contemporaries in the summer...and any other day of the year. But summer's warm, bright, sunny and carefree days just pair better with those books and make them that much sweeter.

I can't wait to read Always Never Yours. The cover is absolutely adorable and I love the colors. Stay Sweet sounds cute, too. I'm also excited to read Kasie West's latest - Listen to Your Heart.

    1. Same: any day of the year, I'm all for contemporaries. It's overall my favored genre. :)

Right there with you. 'Always' sounds too cute for its own good (plus, YES! that cover is beyond perfect). Kasie West, SO MUCH YES! I keep forgetting her book is releasing as soon as it is. :)

So glad you stopped by! Always nice to chat with you.
